6.1.9 Final check before startup :
The pre-startup check must be carried out in accordance
with current site regulations.
6.2 Inflation
The accumulator must be inflated at P0 before start up. All
inflation operations must be carried outo according to the
following process:
•
The accumulator must be immobilized. Define
a safety area outside the alignment with the
openings (hydraulic and nitrogen side): beware
of the risk of part ejections, which can occur in
case of component breakage.
•
Use a Parker checking and charging set (refer to
the instructions on how to use the latter) to inflate,
deflate and check the inflation pressure P0. Parker
checking-inflation tools (supplied as optional
extras)are used to inflate, deflate and check the
pressure of the accumulators.
Inflation limits: to be applied according to each
technology of accumulator (see appropriate
technical datasheet).
Only use pure nitrogen at minimum 99.8% class 2.8
except for piston accumulators for which pure nitrogen at
minimum 99.99% class 4 must be used.
Note: The nitrogen pressure varies with the gas
temperature. After each inflation or deflation with
nitrogen, wait for the temperature to stabilize before
checking the pressure. This can take up to several minutes
or more than ten minutes, depending on the size of the
accumulator.
Warning ! the maximum initial preload P0 should
be in all cases ≤ the working pressure and
compatible with the manufacturer's
recommendations pressure.
If in doubt, contact Parker and its
authorized network
•
Check the inflation valve for leaks (for example
using soapy water).
•
Use the safety cap to protect the inflation valve.
6.3 Hydraulic Pressurization
•
First check the inflation pressure Po (see Section
6.2).
•
Check the hydraulic system for leaks.
•
Check that the hydraulic pressure never exceeds the
maximum allowable pressure PS indicated on the
accumulator. A screw that can be used to bleed the
hydraulic system is provided on some models.
Caution!
Never try to open the bleed valve when the
hydraulic system to which the accumulator is
connected is pressurized.

7. Maintenance
Before removing the accumulator from the hydraulic
system, you must ensure that there is no residual
hydraulic pressure in the accumulator.
Before dismantling the accumulator, ensure that no
inflation pressure remains (see Section 6.2)!
Once they have been commissioned, Parker accumulators
require practically no maintenance.
To keep the equipment in good working order and ensure
a long service life, the following maintenance work is
recommended:
7.1 Inflation Pressure P0 Checks
When the accumulator has been commissioned, check the
inflation pressure P0 once a week for the first month. After
that, adjust the frequency of such checks (weekly, monthly,
six-monthly, annually) depending on the pressure drop. See
Section 6.2.
7.2 Other Operations
You are advised to carry out the following checks (at the
intervals recommended by Parker and depending on the
operating conditions):
•
Check the safety devices and connections.
•
Check the accumulator mountings.
•
Visually check the accumulator for any signs of wear
(e.g. corrosion, leak, shock)
•
Inspect the inside of the accumulator if an abrasive or
corrosive fluid is used (scratches and damages could
cause leakage, corrosion.... especially for piston
accumulator).
To maintain an accumulator when it is in service
(regular requalification operations, etc.), refer to
the current site regulations.
For disassembly, cleaning, replacement parts and
reassembly operations, contact Parker or an approved
Parker agent. Use only original
spare parts.
8. Accumulator Disposal – Recycling
Before destroying or recycling the accumulator,
depressurize it (hydraulic and gas pressure) and remove the
inflation valve. Decontaminate if necessary.
