ATTACHMENT POINTS
Where possible, attachment points for securing must be
located vertically above the person to be secured. Be
sure to prevent sagging in the lanyard! Sharp edges,
burrs and pinching may substantially impair the loading
strength. Spots causing such damage may have to be
covered with suitable auxiliary materials. The attachment
point and the anchoring must be capable of withstanding
the loads occurring in the worst conceivable case. The
minimum break load of the attachment point must be
12 kN, and it should conform to EN 795.
SERVICE LIFE AND REPLACEMENT
The service life of the product mainly depends on the
type and frequency of use as well as on external influenc-
es. When approaching the useful life or latest at the end
of the maximum service life indicated, the product must
be removed from use. Products made of artificial fibres
(Polyamid, Polyester, Dyneema
subjected to some aging even if not used; aging particu-
larly depends on the intensity of ultraviolet radiation and
the climatic conditions the product is subjected to.
Maximum service life
with optimum storage conditions and without use:
14 years.
Maximum useful life
(professional/non-professional use)
Providing proper use and no detectable signs of wear
showing as well as under optimum storage conditions:
10 years.
Frequent or extreme use
Frequent use or extremely high loading may substantially
reduce the useful life. Remove the product from service
immediately if any of the following applies
- if there are doubts concerning safe use
- if fall loading has occurred (the product may only be
reused after an adequately qualified person has con-
firmed this in writing)
- if webbing edges are damaged or individual fibres have
been pulled from the webbing

- if visible signs of damage or abrasion show on seems
- if melting burns, decolouration or strong furriness of
the webbing are noticed
- if the product has come in contact with chemicals or
strong fall loading has occurred (fall factor >1)
- if webbing or webbing slings with integrated wear indi-
cators show abrasion that reaches the indicator (interior
fabric with different colour is visible), the product must
be removed from use immediately. Otherwise fatal
accidents may occur
INSPECTION AND DOCUMENTATION
In case of commercial/professional use, the product must
be inspected as needed but at least yearly by the manu-
facturer, an adequately qualified person or an approved
inspection body/agency; and it must be serviced or re-
moved from use as required. The identification must be
readable. Such inspections and service must be documen-
ted for each product; record the following information:
Product designation, name and address of manufacturer,
individual identification mark, date of manufacture, date
of purchase, date of initial use, date of next regular in-
spection, result of the inspection, and signature of the
responsible adequately qualified person. You may down-
