Before mounting the Ball/Pintle confirm that there will be no interference from the tow vehicle and any other mounted
accessories. Check for interference again after installation is complete.
1.
Mounting structure must be capable of supporting the rated capacity of the pintle hook in accordance
with SAE J849b.
2.
Use the four 1/2" diameter grade 8 bolts and torque to 100ft. lbs.
3.
For combination pintle hooks, torque ball locknut to 350ft. lbs.
PINTLE HOOK
1.
Open pintle by removing safety pin and lifting latch.
2.
Position lunette eye over the horn of the pintle and lower into place.
3.
Close pintle and insert safety pin.
HITCH BALL/PINTLE
1.
Open pintle by removing safety pin and lifting latch.
2.
Replace safety pin in hole to retain latch in open position.
3.
Position coupler over ball and lock into place, following coupler manufactures instructions.
1.
Clean and inspect for proper operation every 30,000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first.
2.
Regularly lubricate latch and lock pivots with a light oil lubricant.
3.
Check all mounting bolts and ball locknut I or proper torque.
4.
Replace ball locknut if torque falls below 70ft. lbs.
