S4 PIONEER X-ray Spectrometer
Changing the Location of the Spectrometer
One version of the S4-Spectrometer was conceived as a mobile analytical device. With each perma-
nent change of the location of the diffractometer the following points must be considered:
• The X-ray tube must be removed for the duration of the transport from the tube housing. After each
change of the location of the spectrometer the correct tightness of the X-ray tube must be checked!
• Mechanical vibrations are to be avoided absolutely during movement of the S4 system, since oth-
erwise sensitive physical components may be damaged.
• Please make sure that the S4 diffractometer is securely blocked to avoid unintentional movement
at the new location. Please use the provided blocking wedges.
• At the new place of assembly the mains connection must be arranged according to the description
given in section "mains connection and earthing".
• Make sure that the locally valid radiation protection regulations and operation permits are strictly
observed.
• Please, consult your local Bruker AXS representative or service in advance to a planned perma-
nent change of the location of the S4 system.
The spectrometer can be moved on its mounted wheels or lifted and transported with the help of a
transportation machine.
Teleservice Modem
The spectrometer computer is equipped with a modem for hardware and software diagnosis through
the AXS Teleservice Centers. For this purpose a telephone jack (preferably Western connector) near
the spectrometer is required as well as two additional plugs (preferably spike protected) for PC and
printer.
A telephone outlet for western connectors must be installed nearby (approx. 5 m). A cable (length
approx. 5 m) equipped with 2 western plugs for the connection modem and a telephone outlet are
required. All of these components are needed for Bruker AXS Service to use the teleservice tools.
