Installation
Installing the accessories
1. Connect the spray lance with trigger gun.
2. Install the high pressure nozzle on the spray lance.
3. Connect the high-pressure hose to the high-pres-
sure connection point of the appliance.
4. Connect the high-pressure hose to the trigger gun.
Initial start-up
DANGER
Risk of injury! Device, tubes, high pressure hose and
connections must be in faultless condition. Otherwise,
the appliance must not be used.
Batteries
Note
Only for diesel engine equipment.
DANGER
Risk of explosion! Do not place the tools or similar parts
on the battery. For example, do not place the tools or
similar items on the battery terminals and connectors.
DANGER
Risk of injury! Ensure that wounds never come into con-
tact with lead. Always clean your hands after having
worked with batteries.
Battery charge
Note
Only for diesel engine equipment.
DANGER
Risk of injury! Comply with safety regulations on the
handling of batteries. Observe the directions provided
by the manufacturer of the charger.
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Connect positive terminal cable from the charger to
the positive pole connection on the battery.
3. Connect negative terminal cable from the charger to
the negative pole connection on the battery.
4. Insert the charger power plug into the outlet and turn
on the charger.

Checking the oil level of the high pressure
WARNING
Please contact Customer Service immediately if the oil
is lacteous.
1. Check oil level of the high pressure pump at the oil
sight glass.
Do not operate the applicant if the oil level has fallen
below "MIN".
2. Add oil if required (see the section " Technical da-
ta").
Checking the engine
Note
Start the engine according to the manufacturer's oper-
ating instructions and follow the safety instructions.
1. Check the air filter.
2. Check the engine's oil level.
Do not operate the appliance if the oil level has fall-
en below "MIN".
3. Top up oil carefully if required.
4. Fill the fuel:
a HDS 8/20 De: Fill the fuel tank with diesel.
b HDS 8/20 G: Fill the fuel tank with gasoline.

DANGER
Danger of explosion! Only refill diesel oil or light fuel oil.
The operation with bio diesel as per EN 14214 (starting
at an outside temperature of 6 °C) is possible. Inappro-
priate fuels, e.g. petrol, must not be used.
ATTENTION
Risk of damage! Never operate device with an empty fu-
el tank. Otherwise the fuel pump may be damaged.
1. Fill the fuel.
2. Close the fuel filler cap.
3. Wipe off the spilled fuel.
HDS 8/20 G (Gasoline Engine) - Fill the fuel
DANGER
Danger of explosion! Only refill the gasoline. The lead-
free motor gasoline (86 ROZ) can be used.
ATTENTION
Risk of damage! Never operate device with an empty fu-
el tank. Otherwise the fuel pump may be damaged.
1. Fill the fuel.
2. Close the fuel filler cap.
3. Wipe off the spilled fuel.
Connection to the water supply
WARNING
Observe regulations of water supplier.
According to applicable regulations, the appliance must
never be used on the drinking water net without a sys-
tem separator. A suitable system separator by KÄRCH-
ER or alternatively a system separator according to EN
12729 Type BA must be used.
Water that was flowing through a system separator is
considered non-drinkable.
Note
For connection values refer to the section " Technical
data".
1. Connect the supply hose to the water inlet of the ma-
chine and at the water supply point (for e.g. a tap).
Note
The supply hose is not included.
2. Open the water supply.
