Troubleshooting

Subject to change without notice
~1 second, the yellow LED will start flashing to indicate that the teach modes are ready.
Selection of the desired teach mode is achieved by keeping the potentiometer in the same
past half rotation position for more a given amount of time.
Mode 1: 1...5 seconds
Mode 2: 5...10 seconds
Mode 3: > 10 seconds
Note that the green signal LED on top and back of the sensor will flash one when the teach
mode has changed.
Once the desired teach mode is selected, turn the potentiometer counterclockwise below
half the available rotation. The teach procedure is complete. Check the detection by mov‐
ing the transparent target between the sensor and reflector, as illustrated in Image: G, and
confirming the yellow LED changes state when the target is present. If not, check the align‐
ment and application conditions.
NOTE
Note that the HL18G lightbar operation is automatically managed via the teach and
AutoAdapt features. An HL18G sensor will always try to maintain the signal such that only
the red and yellow LEDs will be illuminated with a clear view to the reflector.
The sensor is adjusted and ready for operation.

Alarm output
Alarm output: The sensor (HL18(G/T)(L)) features a pre-failure notification output ("Q2" in
connection diagram [B], if the alarm option is selected), which issues a notification if the
signal strength of the light being received is not sufficient. Possible causes: Sensor or
reflector is contaminated, sensor is out of alignment. In the good state: LOW (U
excessively contaminated: HIGH (>+U
Health output: The sensor (HL18(G/T)(L)) features a health status notification output ("Q2"
in connection diagram [B], if the health option is selected), which issues a notification if
the signal strength of the light being received is sufficient. Possible causes, if the signal
strength is not sufficient: Sensors are contaminated, sensors are out of alignment, or
cable is damaged. In the good state: HIGH (>+U
event of cable interruption: LOW (U
Time types: HL18(G/T)(L) with optional On-delay or Off-Delay adjustment: t0 = no time
delay, t1 = time delay when object is detected, t2 = time delay when no object is detected.
The time setting can be selected using the potentiometer according to A.
Timer stages can be set from 0 to 2 seconds.
The Troubleshooting table indicates measures to be taken if the sensor stops working.

Cause
No voltage or voltage below

Measures
Check the power supply,
check all electrical connec‐
tions (cables and plug connec‐
tions)
Ensure there is a stable power
supply without interruptions
If the power supply is OK,
replace the sensor
Check the operating condi‐
tions: Fully align the beam of
light (light spot) with the
reflector. / Clean the optical
surfaces (sensor and reflec‐
