About safety
The device can only fulfil its safety-relevant task if it is
correctly used, that is "safely" – i.e. fail-safe – fitted and

The LCU-P programmable safety interface complies with the
safety-specific requirements of safety category type 4 in
accordance with pr EN 50 100.
2 . 1
Applications for the device
The LCU-P programmable safety interface is used as a control
in the protection of danger points, hazardous areas and access
points. It also handles control tasks such as muting palletisers
(entry/exit) and press brakes as well as blanking and control
tasks on presses (e.g. PDSI mode).
The LCU is designed for use in the machine or plant's control
cabinet (IP 20). If it is used outside the cabinet, a suitable
housing with a top-hat rail insert must be used, e.g. an
electrical distribution board housing (IP 54).
The same applies to applications outside enclosed rooms
(ambient temperature 0 ... 50 °C).
Qualified personnel requirements
Work such as programming and electrical connection – that is,
all function-related activities on the LCU – must be carried out
by qualified personnel.
