Balancing a wheel

WARNING – Incorrectly balanced wheels
Risk of injury due to change in handling cha-
racteristics of vehicle.
SBM 55 NW must be positioned on a flat
surface and must be firmly bolted to the
floor.
Specified flange must be mounted on
clean and grease-free shaft.
Use the specified accessories (cone, spa-
cer rings).
Rim must contact flange accurately, remo-
ve any dirt.
Perform a check measurement after apply-
ing balancing weights.
SBM 55 NW is to be switched on at the on/off
switch.
 The software version appears for a short time.
To balance the wheel:

Select the balancing program;
$
Entering of rim data;
$
Measuring of imbalance;
$
Fastening of the balancing weights.

Selecting the balancing program

Static balancing is recommended for wheels with
a width of less than 3.5". In this case, only the rim
diameter value is entered.

To correctly function the program, make sure that the
values entered for the distance and width, are greater
than 0.
Press the <MODE> button to select the various ba-
lancing programs one after the other.

The locations of the balancing planes for each balan-
cing program are displayed through the LEDs (Fig. 9,
pos. 1).

The balancing plane is the plane to application of the
counterbalance or, simply, balancing weight.

By convention, the Plane/internal weight is that
closest to the object holder tray; vice-versa, the
Plane/external weight is always the farthest from the
object holder tray.

When a PAX balancing program is selected, the Pax
LED (Fig. 9, Item 5) also lights up.
