OXYPOWER
FIRING
The OXYPOWER® range may be used for the strong, rapid firing of metals for use in
a variety of work.
Moulding:
Firing makes the metals malleable and easy to fold, bend, shape or twist.
Quenching:
Firing following by abrupt cooling by immersion in cold water makes steels more rigid
and harder: chisels.
Forging:
Fashioning a solid metal by firing and hammering it.
Annealing:
A new copper (non annealed) part is only very slightly malleable. It should be heated
first and then cooled to make it easier to work.
How to fire:
Set the normal flame to the maximum flow rate for a solid part. If possible, place the
part on thermal insulation - firebricks or thermal screen.
Hold the welding torch perpendicular to the part. Fire the whole part gradually without
melting the metal.
