9 Operating the test bench
Rotating axis
Danger of hair or jewelry being pulled in
• Check the safety device each time before operation
• Do not reach under the protective cover during operation
• Remove any jewelry
• Wear a hair net if necessary
9.1 Operating the test bench (with PC)
The test bench can be controlled from a PC via the USB connection
(see figure in the chapter "Setup and function"). The Windows operating system and software DriveLab are
required.
This increases the functional scope of the test bench system considerably. For example, characteristic
curves can be recorded, static loads parameterized, and various load models simulated automatically.
You can find the necessary information in the manual for the software DriveLab.
9.2 Operating the test bench (without PC)
A prerequisite is that all steps from the chapter "Putting the test bench into service" have been performed.
The test bench is controlled with the rotary knob and by means of the feedback on the display.
A detailed description on how to select the operating modes can be found in the chapter "Operating modes"
9.3 The operating modes
Three operating modes are available for selection:
•
Torque Control = torque specification
The objective of this operating mode is to record the characteristic curve for the speed. The test
specimen is constantly subjected to a pre-selected torque over the entire speed range.
•
Speed Control = rotational speed specification
The objective of this operating mode is to record the characteristic curve of the torque at one or
different pre-selected rotational speeds.
•
PC Mode
The test bench is controlled from a PC if this operating mode is activated.
The operating mode is selected and set with the rotary knob (pos. 9, see chapter "Setup").
