Important
Please read and remember the following instructions before
use to assure your own safety. If you have any questions,
please contact the manufacturer or your distributor. Keep the
manual for future reference. The welding helmet should be
used only for the purposes listed in this manual.

Introduction
This document is all-in-one user manual for the following pro-
ducts:
Product
OptoMAX
OptoMAX air
RangeMAX
RangeMAX air
SeeMAX air
Welding helmet AerTEC™ OptoMAX and AerTEC™ Range-
MAX are a basic variant of the product, certified according to
EN 166:2001 and EN 175:1997-08. It provides protection against
harmful ultraviolet / infrared radiation, welding spatters and
high-speed particles (indicated: B). Welding helmets AerTEC™
OptoMAX Air and AerTEC™ RangeMAX Air represents the im-
proved version of basic variants which is adapted for use with
powered air-purifying respirators (hereinafter PAPR) CleanAIR®
or with continuous flow compressed air line breathing appa-
ratuses (hereinafter compressed air systems CleanAIR®) and
thus provides protection of the respiratory tract. The manu-
al also presents our grinding shield AerTEC™ SeeMAX air
which is only available in PAPR compatible version. All PAPR
compatible variants are additionally certified according to
EN 12941:1998+A2:2008 and EN 14594:2005.
CleanAIR® is a system of personal respiratory protection based
on the principle of overpressure of filtered air in the breathing
zone. The PAPR is placed on the wearer's belt and filtrates the
air which is taken in from the surrounding environment and
then delivered through the airduct into the protective helmet.
The overpressure prevents contaminants from entering the
breathing zone. This mild overpressure ensures the wearer's
comfort, as the wearer does not have to struggle in their bre-
athing to overcome the resistance of the filter.
2. Limitations on use
Limitations for all the versions of products
1. If work requires protection against high-speed particles at
extreme temperatures make sure that visor has a marking
T on it.
2. The material of the helmet can cause allergic reactions to
a sensitive person.
3. Do not use tempered mineral filters without suitable pro-
tection foils.
4. The welding arc damages unprotected eyes!
5. The welding arc may burn unprotected skin!
6. Pay attention to check the product before use. Do not use,
if any part of the system is damaged.
7. Don't put the welding helmet on a hot surface.
8. Replace protection filter immediately, if it is damaged, or if
spatter or scratches reduce vision.

Additional limitations for PAPR compatible versions
1. Never use the helmet in the following environments and
under the following conditions:
• If oxygen concentration in the environment is lower than 17 %.
• In oxygen-enriched environments.
• In explosive ambiance.
• In environments where the user lacks knowledge about the
kind of dangerous substance and its concentration.
• In environments that represent an immediate threat to life
and health.
• If you are not sure, that shade number of your welding filter
lens is suitable for your work.
• The helmet does not protect against hard shocks, explosi-
ons or corrosive substances.
• Do not use in environments where the user does not know
the type of contamination or its concentration.
• Do not use when the powered air-purifying respirator is
turned off or when the compressed air inlet is closed! In
this case, the respiratory system, incorporating a helmet,
gives little or no respiratory protection. Also, there is a risk
of a high concentration of carbon dioxide (CO
and of oxygen deficiency occurring inside the headpiece.
2. Move to a secure location and take appropriate measures when
any of the following problems occur while using the helmet:
• If the PAPR or the compressed air system stopped to ope-
rate for any reason whatsoever, the user must leave the
contaminated workplace without any delay.
• If you experience stench or irritation or an unpleasant taste
while breathing.
• If you feel unwell or if you experience nausea.
3. Use certified original filters designed for your powered air-
-purifying respirator only. Replace filters every time you de-
tect the change of odour in supplied air from the respirator.
4. Filters designed for capturing solid and liquid particles (par-
ticle filters) do not protect the user against any gases. Fil-
ters designed for capturing gases do not protect the user
against any particles. In the workplace contaminated with
both types of pollution, combined filters must be used.
3. Maintenance
The lifetime of the helmet and visors is influenced by many
factors such as cold, heat, chemicals, sunlight or incorrect
use. The helmet should be checked on a daily basis of possi-
ble damage of its inside or outside the structure. Careful use
and correct maintenance of welding helmet enhances opera-
ting life and improves your safety!
Checking before use:
• Inspect that the protection plates are undamaged, clean
and installed correctly. Replace lens immediately, if it is da-
maged, or if spatter or scratches reduce vision.
• Inspect that the welding filter lens is undamaged and clean.
The damaged welding filter lens impairs protection and visi-
bility and must be replaced immediately.
• Make sure that the shade number of a welding filter lens is
appropriate for your work (according to the table in the „Fil-
ter shade number selection" on the inner side of the cover).
• Inspect that the welding helmet and head harness are
undamaged.
Cleaning:
• After each work shift, clean the head section, check indivi-
dual parts, and replace damaged ones.
• Cleaning must be performed in a room with sufficient venti-
lation. Avoid inhalation of harmful dust settled on individual
parts!
• For cleaning, use lukewarm water (up to +40 °C) with soap
or other non-abrasive detergents, and a soft brush.
• It is prohibited to use cleaning agents with solvents.
