2.2 Pressures and air flow
The feeding air line shall be as follows:
‐ 1 User: pressure from 6.5 to 7.5 bar – air flow at least 300 l/min.
Warning: air for compressed air breathing devices shall conform to EN 12021. Do not use Oxygen or Oxygen enriched air.
3. DIRECTIONS FOR USE
3.1. Check before use – Visual inspection
Check the following:
‐ Integrity of harness and cylinder sleeve
‐ Pressure reducer, Demand Regulator, hoses
‐ Connections of 3 Way Valve
‐ Integrity of full face mask (see relevant information notice)
‐ Cylinder and gauge group. Check filling pressure via pressure gauge: hand shall indicate the green area of the face.
Note: To avoid finding the set empty when really needed, we advise regularly checking the pressure of the cylinder
(see para. 4).
3.2. Tightness and function tests
The following tests shall be performed before donning the apparatus.
3.2.1. Medium pressure tightness
Lock the regulator by pressing the side push button. Open Cylinder valve and make sure there are no audible leaks
from MP hoses. If necessary use soapy water to spot the leak. Check specially that there are no leaks from the male
connector of the 3 Way Valve.
3.2.2. Check the acoustic warning device
With closed regulator and open cylinder, press the regulator's rubber button and vent out plenty of air; shut the
regulator with the special button, disconnect the air line from the 3 way valve and, at this stage, open again the
regulator by acting on the rubber button whilst stopping the air from flowing with the palm of your hand. Gently
discharge air intermittently until when a loud sounding vibration is heard. Block the regulator by acting on the side
button to avoid a further and useless waste of air.
3.3. Apparatus donning
Perform as follows:
‐ Wear shoulder strap on right shoulder and fasten waist belt. Both straps are adjustable in length, the cylinder shall be worn
on a side and can be fixed to the leg with the special strap. The 3 Way Valve shall be opposite to the cylinder.
Note: If you prefer to hang cylinder on the left side, before use, slip the 3 Way Valve off the waist belt and reinsert it
on the opposite side.
‐ Lock the demand regulator by acting on the special button
‐ Don the mask and perform the tightness test according to the instructions that come along with the product
‐ Doff the mask
‐ Connect the regulator to the mask connector and push until the small hooks click into the special groove
‐ Connect the regulator's hose to the special outlet (B) of the 3 Way Valve
‐ Hang the mask around your neck, by means of the special ribbon
‐ Connect the air line to the special inlet (C) of the 3 Way Valve.
Warning: before connecting the airline make sure that the air meets with the requirements for quality, pressure and
flow (see para. 2.2)
‐ Open the cylinder by turning the special knob counter clock wise; the direction of the turn is clearly indicated on
the knob. The opening valve shall be opened until it stops.
3.4. Use
When the apparatus is donned and all settings are done it is possible to use the apparatus.
‐ Don the mask as explained in para 3.3 and detailed in the relevant instructions. When the mask is positioned, at the
first breath‐in the regulator opens and starts delivering air on demand
‐ Make sure the breathing hose permits a free movement of the head. Should movement be impaired, re‐adjust the
hose by fixing it with the special Velcro tab on the shoulder strap
‐ The user can now normally breathe and enter the work area.
Normal use: When the mission is over he shall retreat to a safe zone taking care to drag along the air line or
disconnect it before doing so.
Emergency use: should the alarm start up or should the wearer leave the work environment, disconnect the air line
by acting on the quick coupling. Breathe normally and rapidly leave the area through the escape path.
3.5. After use
Safety Warning: do not doff the apparatus until when you are in a safe area.
