Performance Tips

Simplicity of design and operation have made the
RIDGID No. 1233 Threading Machine easy to set up and
use. Following the points below will provide the best per-
formance.
1. Use sharp dies at all times. Dull dies require more
power from motor and produce poor threads.
2. Always use RIDGID Thread Cutting Oil which is
formulated to increase die life and provide quality
threads.
3. Support long lengths of pipe with a RIDGID Pipe
Stand.
4. Oil main spindle bearings every six months (more
often under heavy use). Oil ports are located on top
of machine. Use 20 weight nondetergent oil.
5. Plug cord into any outlet which carries the same
voltage as the motor (check nameplate). Be sure
the motor and power supply are the same. 15 ft. of oil
resisting cord is furnished with the machine. Smaller
gauge extension cords will cause a voltage drop and
prevent efficient operation. Use only approved three
conductor extension cords.
6. 110 and 120 volt motors require a 20 amp breaker or
fuse. On 15 amp circuits 1
threaded at low speed. 220 and 240 volt motors re-
quire a 10 amp breaker or fuse.

Setup Instructions

The RIDGID No. 1233 Pipe and Bolt Threading Machine
is designed to be operated on the ground. However, the
machine can be bench mounted or stand mounted.

Mounting Machine on Pipe Legs

Four lengths of 1" diameter piping can be used as a pipe
stand. Four leg sockets in the bottom of the machine
housing are provided. Each leg must be positioned into
the socket and held into place by tightening the 10mm
hex bolts. (Figures 2 & 3)
NOTE! Back legs should be approximately 1" longer than
front legs.
