Operating Instructions – Spring Balancers
OPERATING THE SPRING BALANCERS
Very much a part of any proper, safe operating is the Safety – Accident Prevention Section on Page 4.
MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION
CAUTION!
• If damage or corrosion is established, immediately stop the operation with the spring
balancer, mark it as faulty and inform the appropriate supervisor.
• Handling all moving parts and points of friction with an acid-free grease is recommended.
Visually check daily as to signs of corrosion or damage:
• Wire rope
• Safety suspension (2)
• Fall prevention device (4)
The spring balance and particularly the cable is to be periodically inspected
for damage - at least once a year - by a qualified person (ISO 4309).
DISPOSAL
• Disposal must involve consideration given to all directives applicable at the time in
question for metals, plastics, greases and oils etc.
• Only have any required dismantling done by those appropriately trained and qualified
