9 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
The cleaning and maintenance of external components of the ma-
chine must be carried out with the main switch in the "OFF" position
and with the electrical plug disconnected from the electrical socket.
Before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance operation on the
machine, wear Personal Protective Equipment (gloves, glasses, etc.)
that has been established by the safety norms in force in the country
of use of the machine.
Use a damp cloth to clean the body of the machine and do not use abrasive detergents.
Never immerse the machine body in water or other liquids.
Never wash the machine body in the dishwasher.
1
Periodically remove the water tank and rinse it with clean water then put it back properly
in its place.
Cleaning is an operation that must be carried out habitually with the maximum care to
ensure the quality of production and the respect of the necessary hygiene norms.
N.B. The stainless materials, plastic materials, the rubber used in the
construction of the said parts and their particular shape facilitate
cleaning, but do not stop the formation of bacteria and mould in the
case of insufficient cleaning.
It is forbidden to carry out cleaning or maintenance of the machine
with the main switch in the "ON" position and with the electrical plug
inserted in the electrical socket.
9.1 Descaling
Descale the machine periodically.
The frequency of this operation depends on the hardness of the wa-
ter used.
1
Remove the grid and the basin, empty any cap-
sules and wash them with an ordinary dish-
washing detergent.
Pour a measure of descaling liquid into the tank
(follow the manufacturer's instructions).
Only use solutions suited for espresso coffee machines.
- Make sure that there is a capsule in the capsule- compartment.
- Lower the lever.
- Start up the machine as described in paragraph 6.2 "Starting up the machine".
- Place a vessel with a capacity of about 500 cc on the grid.
- Dispense hot water 3-4 times by pressing button.
After doing this, repeat the operations escribed above, using clean water
only, to remove residues of the solution from the circuit.
Rinse the tank well and dry it before using the machine again.
9.2 Periodic maintenance
At least once a year, the machine must be periodically checked by a
specialised technician.
This periodic check maintains the high level of safety of all the in-
stalled components and the machine.
If a component is worn it must substituted with an original new spare
part.
Utilising the machine when there is even one component defective or
worn is forbidden. The operator is forbidden to carry out periodic
maintenance.
10 DEMOLITION
Electrical and electronic equipment must be disposed of in accord-
ance with the European Directive 2002/96/CE.
This equipment must NOT be disposed of via the normal system of
solid urban waste, but must be collected differentially to optimise
the recovery and recycling of the materials from which it has been
constructed.
The symbol
of the barred waste bin is shown on all products to remember the
obligation for recycling. Correctly observing all the measures regarding the disposal of
old products contributes to safeguarding the environment.
N.B. If you decide not use this equipment any more it is necessary to
make it inoperative by cutting the power cord after disconnecting it
from the electrical socket.
