2. PRESENTATION
2.1 DESCRIPTION
®
The Simple Logger
II is a self-contained digital recorder including one or two analogue input acquisition
channels depending on the model (powered from a set of two alkaline batteries).
The analogue input signal is sampled and converted into digital signals. The data obtained are processed,
time-stamped, and recorded. An optically isolated USB (Universal Serial Bus) port allows the downloading of
the recorded data to a desktop computer.
The main advantage of this recorder is that it makes it possible to solve many recording problems using the
®
simple and intuitive DataView
software interface.
For the measurement of AC signals, the frequency of the signal is followed (within of ± 2Hz of the 50 or 60Hz
nominal network frequency) and 64 samples measured for each alternation.
For a TRMS* measurement, the computation is done on the basis of the 64 samples of one alternation; this
®
process is repeated 8 times a second. Information about harmonics is calculated by DataView
software
from the data of these 64 samples (so the input signals during the intervals separating two measurements
are not taken into account).
DC signal measurements are made 8 times per recording interval.
*: TRMS = True Root Mean Square (true RMS value).
