1) Overview
These instructions are produced in part by the supplier of the underrun bar kit and must be supplemented
by the installer in accordance with the requirements of Directive 2006/42/EEC (Machinery Directive)
Prior to any use of the underrun bar, read these instructions carefully
Follow all the safety and use instructions provided to you
Document to be kept in the vehicle's cab
2) Safety instructions
Please note that:
Fitting, maintenance and servicing of the underrun bar must comply with regulation R58-02 and the installation
-
instructions supplied with the products. These operations must be performed by qualified and accredited
personnel. The standard practices of each specialised trade (mechanics, hydraulics, electricity and pneumatics)
must be respected.
Original or replacement assembly and installation of the hydraulic underrun bar kit must comply with the
-
provisions of Machinery Directive 2006/42 of 17th May 2006 and the installation instructions for the underrun
bars.
Before performing any work on the vehicle, disconnect the battery and reduce the pressure in the
hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
For all handling, installation and maintenance operations, wear the appropriate personal protective
equipment (gloves, safety glasses, footwear, etc.) as required and specified in the safety data sheets
(hydraulic oil, for example),
During fitting, testing and servicing, ensure a safety perimeter has been established around the zone
in which the bar is deployed.
• All welds must comply with the specifications of guide 2905926FT (available on our website).
• Hydraulic controls should be installed in such a way that bar movements can be seen by the operator. If
controls are installed in the cab, arrangements must be made to provide a view of the zone in which the
underrun bar is deployed from the cab. If controls are installed on the rear of the vehicle, the location of
the controls must provide a view of the underrun bar's movements and prevent any risk to the operator.
The operator must be able to ensure that there are no personnel at risk in danger areas. If this is not
possible, the control system must be designed and built such that any activation is preceded by an audible
and/or visual warning signal.
• Hydraulic controls must be used for the underrun bar only: these components are designed and
intended to control the underrun bar only.
• Electric cables and hydraulic pipes must be adequately protected to prevent any risk of damage during
use of the underrun bar.
• When performing any work, check the equipotential bonding of connections.
• Do not re-tighten connections under pressure.
• Avoid any contact with hydraulic oil during these operations (during draining, collect this oil).
• For all installation/re-installation operations, refer to the installation instructions supplied with the
product.
• During post-maintenance testing, the operator must ensure that there are no personnel in the area in
which bar movements occur.
• If the product needs to be repainted, mask:
- the jack rods,
- the nameplate (EEC marking – attached to the right-hand arm) and the pictograms, to ensure they remain
legible.
