How RENOK works
The RENOK operates by creating a vacuum when a lever is
lifted.
• A chamber within the unit draws in a precisely-controlled amount
of air.
• The resulting vacuum draws inoculum into the inoculator transfer
lid. No liquid enters the RENOK so contamination of the
apparatus is more easily controlled than with direct contact
methods.
• The inoculum-filled transfer lid is then placed over a MicroScan
panel.
• The inoculum is released, which rehydrates the panel and at the
same time inoculates it with the organism to be evaluated.
• The panel is then ready for incubation.
Operation
The following figure shows the proper way to hold the
RENOK.

NOTE
When operating the RENOK, follow these usage
instructions as well as good ergonomic practices, (for
example, breaks, stretching, rotating work activities) to
prevent repetitive motion injuries.
Inoculation procedure
Select a level working surface on which to perform the
following procedures.
To inoculate a panel:
1.
Select and inoculate a seed trough (Standard or
Partitioned) according to the appropriate panel
procedural manual.
2.
If necessary, rock the seed trough gently to distribute the
inoculum fluid evenly throughout the seed trough.
3.
Place the transfer lid over the seed trough. Do not
attach RENOK to the transfer lid at this time.
4.
Gently tap the transfer lid in all four corners to remove
any bubbles. Allow the transfer lid to equilibrate for a
minimum of 20 seconds in the seed trough.
5.
Pick up the RENOK from its stand by depressing pick-up
levers using thumb and fingers, and place RENOK on top
of the transfer lid.
