Maintenance, Cleaning and Care
The back pad, standard, has small FLOAM pads contained in channels that prevent the FLOAM
pads from shifting, but will allow the FLOAM to flow, distributing pressure. Avoid puncturing the
FLOAM pad with sharp items.
The FLOAM material maintains its properties in a variety of climates. Care should be taken,
however, to allow the FLOAM pad to return to room temperature after prolonged exposure to
extremes of cold or heat.
The back pad, standard, may be machine washed on a knit/delicate cycle. DO NOT USE
BLEACH and allow to drip dry.
Care of the Back Pad – FLOAM Cells (Item 6) (Back 4 only)
The back pad – FLOAM cells contains several individual FLOAM cells in pockets that are color
coded. These FLOAM cells must be removed prior to washing, along with the foam insert in
the back pad. Re-assemble by placing the color-coded cells in the corresponding color-coded
pockets, i.e. place red cells in the red pockets etc., unless otherwise prescribed by a trained
seating specialist. Also replace the foam insert prior to fitting the back pad to "The Back".
To clean the FLOAM cells simply hand wash in warm, soapy water. Rinse and pat dry.
Care of the Right and Left Wing and of the Center Part (Items 1, 2 & 4)
These composite components may be cleaned using a mild soap and water. Ensure that they
are completely dry before replacing the upholstery and reinstalling to the wheelchair.
Should the composite components get scratched or nicked, they may be restored to their origi-
nal condition by smoothing the area with a fine grade sandpaper. With a soft cloth rub a small
amount of baby oil over the sanded area. This will renew the original surface appearance.
