Follow the instructions below and read the starting and stopping instructions found
in Engine Owner's Manual.
Ensure that the generator is properly installed in an outdoor location. See sections

installation warnings and safety guidelines.
1. Disconnect all loads from the generator.
2. Place the main circuit breaker in the open (O) position.
3. Place the auto idle switch in the OFF (O) position.
4. Open the fuel valve (see Operating the Fuel Valve).
5. If engine is cold, pull choke control out. If engine is
hot, push the choke control in.
6. Turn engine switch to the START (a) position and
hold until engine starts.
NOTICE: Do not crank engine longer than 15 seconds
at a time. Extended cranking can damage starter
motor.
Leave key in the ON (b) position while engine is
running.
Notes:
Turn the engine switch to the OFF (c) position when the engine is not running.
Leaving the key in the ON position with the engine off will drain the battery.
The engine is equipped with a low oil protection system. If the oil level is low, the
engine will not start. Check engine oil level if engine does not start.
7. Push choke in as the engine warms.
8. Place the main circuit breaker in the closed (l) position.
9. Place the auto idle switch in the ON (l) position.
10.Allow engine to warm up and check the function of the GFCI module and the
main circuit breaker before attaching loads to the generator (see Ground Fault
Circuit Interrupt).
