IMPORTANT!
For the safety check to be completed properly, the wheel of the HAND-
BIKE BATEC HIBRID must be stopped and the user must have squeezed
the brake levers on the HANDBIKE BATEC HIBRID at least once.
• Turn off: Turn the key on the battery anti-clockwise to the OFF po-
sition. If you leave it in the OPEN position, your HANDBIKE BATEC
HIBRID will be off and the battery will be ready to remove.
There are two operating modes: Assisted manual propulsion and elec-
tric mode. In the first mode, the user propels the handbike using the
crank arms and the motor provides assistance. The second mode is an
emergency mode, only for situations when the user needs to use the
handbike without turning the crank arms due to stability issues.
ASSISTED MANUAL PROPULSION
In Assisted manual propulsion mode, there are 3 levels of help (po-
sition 1, position 2 and position 3), each with a light indicator on the
display panel. Level 1 provides the least help and level 3, the most.
Users can change between the three levels using the buttons on the
right handle. When the HANDBIKE BATEC HIBRID is switched on, it will
always be in assisted manual propulsion mode, position 1. The button
with the up arrow increases the level and the button with the down
arrow is to switch to a lower level.
There is also a 9-speed gear train and gears can be selected using the
levers on the right grip.
Using Assisted manual propulsion mode
Hold the grip firmly and turn the Batec crank arms forward, always
with the cables up. When the sensor in the axis of the pedals detects

the force, it will activate the electric motor. Use the buttons to change
the level of assistance and use the gear-shift levers to change gears.
ELECTRIC PROPULSION MODE
To switch to electric mode, press the down arrow while in position 1. In
electric mode, there is only one speed and one light indicator on the
display panel.
(See fig. 17)
Using Electric propulsion mode
The user controls the speed of the motor with the trigger on the elec-
tric grip. In this mode, the sensor on the pedals is not activated.
BRAKE
The HANDBIKE BATEC HIBRID has two brake levers on the handlebar
to activate the disc brake. Pull on the lever to activate the brake.
TIP
Always keep two fingers on the brake lever so you can react quickly.
Pressing on the brake lever and the red lever at the same time blocks
the brake lever, acting as a parking brake.
LIGHTS
There is a button on the HANDBIKE BATEC HIBRID handlebar to switch
on the front and rear lights. When you push the button, the front light
will go on in normal mode and the light indicator on the display pan-
el will turn green. When you push the front light button again, they
