Maintenance and care:
If taken care of properly, the chuck generally will not require special
maintenance. However, the chuck should be cleaned regularly and as
necessary:
Screw out the jaws (as described previously), clean off the worst of the
soiling with a cloth, then wash with an appropriate cleaning agent (e.g.
cold cleaner benzine or petroleum - do not use normal petrol!). Lightly
grease the jaws and reinsert.
If complete cleaning is necessary (e.g. for difficulties due to chip penetra-
tion, etc.), the chuck must be removed from the machine and dismantled.
Here, too, the jaws should be screwed out first.
To dismantle, unscrew the slotted screws located at the rear of the cen-
trically clamped chucks:
The inner screws must be released in order to remove the rear plate,
then the outer screws are released so that the adjusting screws can be
removed with the square-end.
Gently knock the chuck against a soft (wooden or similar) surface to
loosen the spiral plate.
After cleaning, wash off with an appropriate cleaning agent (e.g. cold
cleaner benzine or petroleum, do not use normal petrol!). We recommend
using a brush here!
After careful greasing, assemble in reverse order.
For chucks with individually adjustable jaws, the jaws must be screwed
out individually for cleaning.
