Caution when clamping large work pieces! Clamping work pieces
-
that are too large could cause the jaws to eject during turning.
A square end for jaw adjustment, which has been marked with an
-
imprinted "0", is located at the outside of the chuck body of the cen-
trically clamped chuck. If possible, always use this square end to
adjust the jaws!
Exchanging the clamping jaws:
The chuck, depending on the model, is delivered ex works with mounted
inside jaws (for the version with separate inside and outside jaws) or with
reversing jaws.
Model with separate inside and outside jaws:
Even though the inside jaws are suitable for external clamping of smaller
diameter work pieces, they are actually intended for clamping hollow
work pieces, as shown in Fig. 2.
In order to clamp work pieces externally (e.g. for clamping solid steel bars
with greater diameters, see Fig. 3), the included outside jaws must be
inserted into the chuck instead of the factory-mounted inside jaws (see
below).
Model with reversing jaws:
These have been shaped at the underside which operates in the spiral
plate of the chuck and at the clamping surfaces themselves so that they
can be inserted from both sides into the jaw guide and, depending on
position, can be used either for outside or inside clamping just as shown
in Fig. 2 and 3.
