BEFORE RECORDING
Encoding
Absolute
Time
Signal
The absolute time (A-TIME) indicates the elapsed
time from the beginning of a tape. The absolute
time is automatically encoded on a tape during
recording. To encode the absolute time signal cor-
rectly, operate as follows.

Recording on a new tape —> Eq
Press the I< REW button to rewind the tape to
the beginning of the tape. When the tape reaches
its beginning, "toP" is displayed on the display
window.
Recording in the middle of a tape —> El
Press the PPIFF button. The tape stops at the
end of recording. Check if the absolute tine © is
correctly displayed before recording.
If you start recording with an incorrect absolute
time display, the absolute time will not be encoded.
Recording over a recorded tape
Rewind or fast forward the tape to the position to
start recording. Check if the absolute time @ is
correctly displayed before recording.
