TROUBLESHOOTING
GUIDE
The power cannot be turned on.
e Check if the batteries are installed in the unit.
¢ Check the battery condition.
Check if the batteries are installed with the po-
larities correctly aligned.
¢ Check the connection of the AC plug.
Cannot record.
¢ Check the erasure prevention tab on the cas-
sette. (See page 22.)
¢ Check if the unit is in recording pause mode.
¢ Check if the KEY HOLD switch is on.
¢ Check for the SCMS (Serial Copy Management
System). (See page 52.)
¢ Check if the head is dirty.
Cannot play back.
e Check if the unit is in playback pause mode.
¢ Check if the KEY HOLD switch is on.
e Check if the head is dirty.
Subcodes cannot be rewritten.
¢ Check the erasure prevention tab on the cas-
sette. (See page 22.)
Cannot load a cassette.
e Check if you are loading the cassette in the cor-
rect direction.
The cassette holder cannot open.
e Check the battery condition.
¢ Check if the cassette is loaded firmly.
No sound is heard.
¢ Check the connection of plugs.
e Check the connection of headphones.
¢ Check if.the volume is turned down to the mini-
mum.
e Check if the volume on the remote control is
turned down to the minimum.
Noise occurs.
¢ Check the connection of plugs.
e Check if the head is dirty.
The tape stops during playback, or in fast
forward or rewind mode.
¢ You cannot advance the tape to a position which
has never been recorded.
