Start of Operation, Switching the Machine on
Prior to switching the welder on, its state of repair has to
be checked. The gear box and all moving parts have to be
greased/lubricated from time to time. Substantial contamina-

tions/residues have to be cleared, no later than prior to the
next welding, but preferably after the welding operation
during which they occurred.
Note that operation on a construction site is only accept-
able if the power supply has earth-leakage circuit breakers

(residual current device, RCD).
After connecting the power supply cord to the mains power supply or
a generator, the machine is turned on at the On/Off switch.
It has to be ensured that the voltage of the power source the
machine is connected to corresponds to the rated voltage of
the machine. To extend power cord length, use exclusively
properly approved extension cables that are labeled as such
Caution
and have the following conductor sections:
up to 20 m:
1.5 mm² (2.5 mm² recommended); Type H07RN-F
over 20 m:
2.5 mm² (4.0 mm² recommended); Type H07RN-F
When using the extension cable, it has always to be rolled
off completely and lie fully extended.
Caution
After the machine was switched on, Display 1 appears on the
screen.
The product then moves on to the standard screen (Display 2), show-
ing the nominal and actual welding wedge temperature and the run-
ning speed set for the next welding. On the last line, it also displays,
alternating between them, the selected plastic material, the outside
temperature, the date and time, and the input voltage, input current
and power as well as the number of the next welding report.
If the machine configuration requires the input of traceability data
for the joint that is going to be welded (commission number, welder
identification code), then input screens for these data are shown
before welding (see Sect. 4.7). The welding parameters and trace-
ability data can also be entered after pressing the arrow key in the
standard screen.
At this point, it is imperative to set the nominal speed, with
the potentiometer, and the nominal temperature, which
shows on the display, with the arrow keys ò and ñ, for the
