Rebound damping controls the speed at which the shock returns to its full travel position after
compression. This adjustment has the most significant impact on the feel of your shock's ride quality
making it a highly personal setting. What works for one person's riding style, may not work for someone
else. Vivid performs best when you fine tune and make use of all the adjustment features available for
rebound damping.
Vivid features Dual flow™ Adjust Rebound, which allows for the independent adjustment of both
Beginning Stroke Rebound and Ending Stroke Rebound. Beginning Stroke Rebound, adjusted using the
red knob, controls the speed at which the shock returns from smaller bumps. These smaller bumps are
typically n the first 25% of shock travel. Ending Stroke Rebound, adjusted at the shock body, controls
the speed at which the shock returns from large bumps. These large bumps are typically in the 5% to
100% range of shock travel.

Turning the rebound adjusters counter-clockwise toward the "rabbit" makes the suspension return
faster from a compressed state by decreasing the amount of rebound damping. Turning the rebound
adjusters clockwise toward the "turtle" makes the suspension return slower from a compressed state, by
increasing the amount of rebound damping.
Beginning stroke rebound
1.
Turn the red Beginning Stroke Rebound adjuster knob fully clockwise, toward the turtle marked on
the spring collar.
.
Turn the Beginning Stroke Rebound adjuster knob counter-clockwise, 5 clicks, toward the rabbit.
This is a good starting point for most riders.

ending stroke rebound
1.

body, using a .5mm hex (or your RockShox rebound adjuster).

test ride
Test ride a familiar section of trail that has some small bumps as well as drops, larger bumps, water bars
and/or jumps to confirm that you like your rebound settings.
Beginning stroke rebound tuning tips:
If the rear wheel feels like it has excessive movement, or starts to lose traction over small bumps,
slow down the Beginning Stroke Rebound by turning the knob 1 click clockwise, toward the turtle.
Continue this process until the rebound is at the speed you desire.
If the shock starts to feel like it is "packing up" or starts to feel increasingly harsh over small bumps,
speed up the Beginning Stroke Rebound by turning the knob 1 click counter-clockwise, toward the
rabbit. Continue this process until the rebound is at the speed you desire.
ending stroke rebound tuning tips:
If the shock feels like it is "bucking", or returning too fast and pushing you forward, slow down the
Ending Stroke Rebound by turning the knob 1 click clockwise, toward the turtle. Continue this
process until the rebound is at the speed you desire.
If the shock starts to feel like it is "packing up" or starts to feel increasingly harsh over consecutive
large hits, speed up the Ending Stroke Rebound by turning the knob 1 click counter-clockwise,
toward the rabbit. Continue this process until the rebound is at the speed you desire.
low sPEED coMPrEssion aDjUstMEnt (viviD 5.1 only)
low speed compression controls the shock's movement when it is moving up and down slowly (ie: low
shaft speed). low speed compression can be tuned to provide maximum sensitivity to small bump input
and to hold the rider higher in the shock's travel.
sEtting low sPEED coMPrEssion (viviD 5.1 only)
Vivid 5.1 features a low speed compression adjustment that can be externally adjusted by turning the
blue low speed compression knob located at the back of the reservoir. If the shock is moving too much
when you pedal or shift your weight around on the bicycle, or, if the shock is sitting too far into the
travel in berms, increase the amount of low speed compression damping by turning the blue adjuster
clockwise, toward the "+" sign. If the shock is not compliant enough on small bumps, decrease the
amount of low speed compression damping by turning the adjuster counter-clockwise, away from the "+"
sign.
DroP stoP aDjUstMEnt
Vivid features the Drop Stop system, which allows the rider to tune how much the shock's spring rate
increases in the last 0% of the travel. By changing out the Drop Stop, the end of stroke can be made to
feel softer or harder depending on the rider's preference.

the drop stop should only be changed after the desired spring rate

To change the Drop Stop follow the instructions below:
1.
Remove the shock from the bicycle according to your bicycle manufacturer's recommendation.
.
Clean the shock body threads.
.
Remove the shaft eyelet mounting hardware.
4.
Turn the preload collar away from the spring until it stops.
5.
Unseat the spring retainer and remove.
6.
Remove the spring from the shock body.
7.
gently remove the Drop Stop from the Drop Stop carrier and pull it over the shaft eyelet.
8.
Re-install the desired Drop Stop by gently sliding it over the shaft eyelet and onto the Drop Stop
carrier. push the Drop Stop up against the shock body.
9.
Re-install the spring.
