sible by hand then the wrench (fig. C / item 20) can
be used to help.
2. Remove the spool (fig. N3 / item H) and the spring
(fig. N3 / item I) from the spindle (fig. N3 / item J).
The following sub-points should only be carried out if only
the cutting line and not the complete spindle are to be
replaced:
Remove any cutting line remains from the spool.
Fold new cutting line in the middle and place the loop cre-
ated into the slot in the spool divider (fig. N4).
Wind the cutting line on clockwise as shown in the il-
lustration (fig. N5) whereby the two halves of the spool
divider are separated. Wind on all but the last 15 cm of
the cutting line.
3. Fasten each end of the cutting line in a slot (fig. N6
/ item L) on the opposite side of the spool to one
another.
4. Insert the spring into the interior of the spool and feed
each end of the cutting line through one of the eyes in
the spool holder (fig. N3 / item K).
5. Fit the spool into the spool holder. Take care that the
spring slides over the spindle and does not become
jammed.
6. Press the spool into the spool holder with one hand
and tighten the retaining screw with the other hand
(fig. N7).
7. Tug on each end of the cutting line to loosen the cut-
ting line from the slots.
8. Trim the excess cutting line to back to ca. 13 cm. This
reduces the load on the motor during the start and
warm up.
Servicing the air filter (fig. J1 – J2)
A dirty air filter reduces the motor power by reducing the
air flow to the carburettor. Regular checking is there-
fore essential. The air filter should be checked every
25 operating hours and cleaned if necessary. If the
air is very dusty then the air filter should be checked
more frequently.
1. Remove the air filter cover (fig. J1)
2. Remove the filter element (fig. J2)
3. Clean the filter element by rapping it or blasting it out
with air.
4. Reassembly is carried out in reverse order.
Attention: Never clean the air filter with petrol or com-
bustible solvents.
Servicing the spark plug
Spark plug sparking gap = 0.6 mm. Tighten the spark
plug to a torque of 12 to 15 Nm. Check the spark plug for
dirt the first time after 10 operating hours and clean with
a copper wire brush if necessary. Then clean the spark
plug every 50 operating hours.
1. Pull the spark plug connector (fig. K1) off with a turn-
ing motion.
2. Remove the spark plug (fig. K2) with the spark plug
wrench provided (fig. C / item 19).
3. Reassembly is carried out in reverse order.
Sharpening the cutting line cutter
The cutting line cutter can become blunt over time. If this
should occur then loosen the 2 screws that fasten the
cutter to the protective cover. Fasten the cutter in a vice.
Sharpen the cutter with a flat file and take care not to
change the angle of the cutting edge. File in only one
direction.
Adjusting the carburettor
Attention! Adjustments to the carburettor should only be
carried out by authorised service personnel. The air filter
covering must be removed as shown in figs. J1 and J2
before any work on the carburettor.
Adjusting the throttle cable:
If it is no longer possible to reach the maximum motor
speed with the device after a time and all other causes
per section 11 „Troubleshooting" have been excluded
then it may be necessary to adjust the throttle cable.
Firstly, check if the carburettor opens fully when the
throttle trigger is pressed fully. This is the case when the
carburettor throttle plate (fig. O2 / item 1) rests against
the stop (fig. O2 / item 2) with the throttle trigger fully
depressed. Fig. O1 shows the correct setting. If the car-
burettor throttle plate does not touch the stop then read-
justment is necessary.
The following steps are required to readjust the throttle
cable:
• Loosen the counter nut (fig. O2 / item 3) one turn.
• Unscrew the adjustment screw (fig. O2 / item 4) until
the carburettor throttle plate rests against the stop as
shown in fig. O1 with the throttle trigger
• fully depressed.
• Tighten the counter nut once again.
Adjusting the idle speed:
Attention! Adjust the idle speed when the device is
warmed up and in operational condition.
If the device stalls when the throttle trigger is released
and if all other causes per section 11 „Troubleshooting"
have been excluded then readjustment of the idle speed
is necessary. To do so turn the idle speed screw (fig. O2 /
item 5) clockwise until the device runs smoothly at idle. If
the idle speed is set so high that the cutting tool also turns
then the idle speed must be reduced by turning the idle
screw counter-clockwise until the cutting tool no longer
turns along with the motor.

• Device ident. number
• Replacement part number of the replacement part re-
quired
