4 | Initial start-up

Check the battery and the scope of delivery.
1. Remove the battery and accessories from the packaging.
2. Check whether the delivery is complete (see Section 1).
3. Check whether the battery or the individual parts are damaged.
Contact the manufacturer via the specified service address if
they are.

5 | Use

5.1 | Correct battery type

Always ensure that the battery you are installing is the correct type
for your vehicle, and is recommended for your model by the vehicle
manufacturer. You can generally do this by looking in your vehicle
handbook or by checking the designation on your old battery (e.g.
YTX9-BS).
Prior to commissioning and filling the battery, always check the
following:
1. Does the battery fit your vehicle? Are the dimensions correct
(height x width x depth)?
2. Are the positive and negative terminals in the right position?
3. Does the battery have the correct voltage (V = volt)?
4. Does the battery have the correct capacity (Ah = ampere-hours)?
5. Does your motorcycle have a maximum alternator charging
voltage of 14.4 V? Higher charging voltages may damage the
battery!

5.2 | Filling the battery with the acid included

Place the battery on an even surface and completely remove the
red protective film on the cell openings of the battery cover. Then
remove the yellow sticker from the battery terminal.

CAUTION!
Risk of chemical burns!
• Take the supplied acid pack out of the box and
remove the plastic sealing strip.
• Keeping the acid pack straight, press it all the
way into the cell openings of the battery.
• Do not remove the aluminium film on the
openings of the six individual reservoirs prior to
insertion. This film is automatically perforated
when you press the acid pack into the battery
openings.
The acid now slowly flows into the battery cells. If the acid
ceases to flow smoothly, tapping the acid pack lightly should
help. If tapping the acid pack from the top does not get the acid
flowing, try squeezing the acid pack very carefully to dispense the
remaining acid into your battery. But you must take great care to
make sure that no acid overflows. Once the acid is flowing, never
squeeze the container to speed up the flow!
The filling rate of the battery is limited by the design of the plates,
and the rate of flow from the container is optimised accordingly.
Only the special acid supplied with the battery may be used for
this purpose. The acid density is higher than that of conventional
batteries and has been developed especially for these batteries.
The acid pack supplied contains exactly the right amount required
for your battery.
IMPORTANT!
Risk of damage!
• Adding other battery acid or distilled water will
cause irreparable damage to the battery.
