Toolholder maintenance : General
• See respective spare parts list for wear parts.
• Clean off grinding dust daily.
• Do not immerse in liquid.
• Bearings are greased for life.
• Change gear grease every 12 months. (Your SUHNER Service Centre
can perform this work quickly and efficiently.)
Change of tools / abrasives : General
Unplug power supply before each tool change.
Clean clamp fitting before mounting.
Ensure flawless runout and only use low-vibration tools. It is essential
that you take note of the permissible speed in this context.

• Grinding belts
• Compressed non-woven belt with textile insert
Tool change (belt)
• Press idler wheel end 11 against a solid base. This causes the belt
tension to drop.
• Do not press down on idler wheel 6. Belt-tightening mechanism
otherwise becomes blocked for safety reasons.
Remove grinding belt from contact wheel and fit new belt.
Disassembly/assembly of the contact wheels
• Loosen hexagon nuts 4 with box spanner 2.
• Remove contact wheels 6, 7.
• Clean drive spindle 9 and mounting pivot 10.
• See Fig. G for the order of assembling the components.
• Firmly tighten hexagon nuts 4 with box spanner 2.
(Hold large contact wheel 7 firmly in place while doing so.)
• Ensure that hexagon nuts 4 are securely tightened.
Before start-up
Also take note of the following points before start-up:
• Starting without safety guard 1 is not permissible.
• Defective, worn or vibrating contact wheels 6, 7 must be replaced
under all circumstances.
• Belt track : Position idler wheel 6 parallel to contact wheel 7 with
tracking bolt 12.
• Trial run: Adjust belt at lowest speed. Grinding belt 3 must run
symetricly to the contact wheel.
• Replace grinding belts with poor running performance.
• Never direct the open belt side against persons.
• Never reach into the open belt side.
• Do not push idler wheel end against firm objekt, while operating.
(Uncontrolled belt running.)

Change of side handle from left to right
• Release and then firmly tighten threaded element 2 of handle mount 3
with allen wrench 1.
Wheel guard
In order to operate reinforced grinding and cutting wheels, the
wheel guard must be installed.
Wheel guard assembly and adjustment:
Mount wheel guard 9 to the wheel guard flange 5, set guard at
required position and tighten screw with allen wrench 8.

11,12 Reinforced Grinding and Cutting wheels, Flap discs ,
Diamond discs 4 1/2"
16 Backing pads with fiber discs 17 , flange nut 15, Velcro pads
and discs
18 Wire cup brushes etc.
Change of tools / abrasives
Hold spindle 7 firmly in place with wrench 6.
Release or tighten flange nut 13 (15) with pin wrench 14.
