Earthing
2.4.3
In order to protect users, the system must be correctly earthed.
The power supply voltage is provided with an earth lead (yellow
- green), which must be connected to a plug provided with
earth contact.
WARNING
* The electrical system must be made by skilled technicians
with the specific professional and technical qualifications
and in compliance with the regulations in force in the
country where the equipment is installed.
* The welding power source supply cable is provided with a
yellow/green wire that must ALWAYS be earthed. This yel-
low/green wire must NEVER be used with other voltage
conductors.
* Verity the existence of the earthing in the used plant and
the good condition of the socket/s
* lnstall only plugs that are homologated according to
the safety regulations.
2.4.4 Power supply via generating set
The system can be powered by a generating set on condition
that it guarantees a stable power supply voltage of ±15% with
respect to the rated voltage value declared by the manufacturer,
in all possible operating conditions and at the maximum power
that can be delivered by the power source.
Normally we recommend using generating sets
with power twice that of the power source if sin-
gle-phase and 1.5 times the power if three-phase.
You are advised to use electronic control genera-
ting sets.
2.5 Commissioning
The earth cable must be connected as near the
area to be welded as possible.
Before welding , check the condition of the electric
cables and of the torch, and if they are damaged
repair or change them.
2.5.1 Start-up
For commissioning of the system, follow the instructions below:
a) Connect the MIG torch to the fitting (C1 fig.2), ensuring that
the fastening ring is fully tightened.
b) Connect the gas pipe on the rear rubber pipe coupling.
c) Check that the roller groove coincides with the diameter of
the wire you wish to use.
d) Unscrew the ring-nut (G1 fig.2) from the spool-holder reel
and insert the spool in such way that when the external end
of the wire is pulled it rotates counter-clockwise. Also insert
the spool-holder reel pin into its housing, replace the ring-nut
(G1 fig.2) and adjust the friction screw (G2 fig.2).
e) Release the wire feed support of the gearmotor (M1 fig.2),
sliding the end of the wire into the wire guide bush and, pas-
sing it over the roller, into the torch fitting. Lock the feed sup-
port in position, checking that the wire has entered the roller
groove.
f) To load the wire onto the torch, press the wire feed push-but-
ton
g) Adjust the gas flow from 10 to 14 l/min.
If a problem occurs during the above phases, check the dis-
play leds and if necessary consult the chapter "Possible pro-
blems".
