seals, and plastic parts.
2.4 Function
The System Hands –voluntary closing– differ from each other, among other
things, by the inner pull and outer pull. The inner pull is provided with the
cable control through the palm of the hand. The outer pull is provided with
the cable control through the back of the hand.
The Ottobock System Hands –voluntary closing– are available in the fol-
lowing designs:
8K26=L/R* with metric thread M12x1.5
8K27=L/R* with inch thread ½"-20
For the various sizes see table in section 3.
The System Hands –voluntary closing– belong to the cable-activated
prostheses and are closed by a harness control system (active). The grip
force is increased by intensifying the pull. Further pull releases the lock
and spring tension opens the hand.
The System Hands –voluntary closing– perform the three-finger grip with
the index, middle finger, and thumb.
To get a harmonious picture of the closing and opening movement of the
entire hand, the ring finger and small finger are coupled to the middle fin-
ger via the inner hand.
The grip force needed for opening can be changed by adjusting the spiral
spring. For this purpose, the System Hand –voluntary closing– is to be sent
to an Ottobock Service centre.
