This involves for the installer a considerable saving of
costs and time, being no longer necessary the
FC490ST, the programming Tool of the Loop devices,
and consequently is no longer needed the procedure
for the manual assignment of the devices addresses.
Furthermore the auto-addressing procedure have to be
able to allow to the installer to know or set the geograp-
hical position of the devices in the site (device mapping
phase).
The Auto addressing procedure is part of the loop devi-
ces enroll process in the FC501 panel (see Installer
Manual: chapter "Quick Start Procedure").
The loop devices enroll process is initiated by the instal-
ler:
Ø press the 1 key to enter in PROGRAMMING mode.
Enter the Installer PIN (00000) at default, each digit
*
will be masked by
Ø Select option 1: AUTO;
After all the devices are initializing in Loop: the pa-
nel will prompt to choose the type of automatic zo-
nes assignment :
1 = according to the Loop
2 = based on the addresses of the devices
3 = do not assign.
After the choice, the panel get to the results phase.
Ø Press
the
ENTER
AUTOADDRESSING phase;
Ø or press ESC to the FAULT page (not addressable
devices).
By default, any addressable device has the address
255; fire panel examines the serial number of each de-
vice and assigns to each an address from 1 to 128.
If the control panel finds a device with a different ad-
dress than default (255) leaves set address to the
device.
+
The control panel is ready to work, at this time,
(with the default programming)
If for requirements of the system, the installer wants to
modify the factory default:
example set the address 1 to detector 1, address 2 to
detector 2, and so on:
Ø press the ENTER key, so the fire panel initiates the
MAPPING DEVICES phase.
First phase
1. In this phase, the installer must activate in sequen-
ce, moving in the plant, all input devices: detectors,
input modules, Manual Call Point, and then return
in front of the fire panel.
2. Report the sequence of activation on the map of
system.
The fire panel will store the activation sequence
(even temporarily).
The installer using the User Interface UP and
DOWN keys will start to examine the first activated
device.

3. Selected the device, the address will blink, so the
installer can change the address.
Press ENTER to confirm. At this point the address
will became fixed.
4. If the ENTER key is pressed again, the installer can
switch to programming phase of the device in que-
stion.
+
"Unique", in the time field, tags the device which type
is singularly present over the loop. So it is not neces-
sary to activate it, the installer knows where it is.
Second phase
In this phase, the installer examines the sounders, the
beacons and the output module.
When the installers, scanning the list of previously
auto-addressed devices, reaches an only output device
type, this device become active ( if it is a sounder start do
sound, a beacon start to flash, a output module light-up its
LED) until a new device is selected or the permanent ad-
dress is entered.
In this way it will be possible to locate where the device is.
+
The enroll process doesn't take place until all loop
wiring trouble have been removed.

The auto-addressing procedure have to be used
when on the loop there are NG1 devices, otherwise
it doesn't have effect.
+
The device mapping process doesn't take place
until all double address faults have been removed
n Programming Device Addresses Using the
Programmer
As an alternative to the procedure of Auto-addressing
the Installer can use the service tool FC490ST to ad-
dress the devices on Loop.
1. Connect your detector into the programmer, if you
need to program a sounder or a module connect
the programming lead into the AUX port of the pro-
grammer and the other end of the lead into the devi-
ce's programming port
+
Note you can't address a detector while this lead is
plugged in.
2. Press and hold F1 to switch the programmer on (if
not already powered up).
3. When
prompted,
F1,F2,F1,F2,F3,F4.
4. Press F2 to enter the address program, this will
show on the screen the current address of the devi-
ce (brand new devices will always be 255).
5. Press F2 to choose the "write" menu option.
6. Using F3 and F4 change the address to the requi-
red address.
