CONSIGLI UTILI PER UN CORRETTO FUNZIO-
NAMENTO DEI FRENI
• Fate verificare e rispettare periodicamente le coppie di serraggio

TOOLS
For the Cross Carbon brakes series, frame fitting, tightening and
maintenance operations must be performed with the following
wrenches not provided in the packaging:
• A 2.5-4-5 mm dynamometric Allen wrench.
• A 10 mm standard wrench.
• A 13 mm socket wrench.
• A Philips screwdriver.
WARNING!
If you have any doubt whatsoever your service-repair ability,
please take your bicycle to a qualified repair shop.
Before any maintenance operations on your brakes, always
wear gloves and protection glasses.
Inside the packaging of the Cross Carbon brakes, you will find a
bag containing:
• 2 triangles holding the brake cable
• 2 cables for connection of brakes with the corresponding cable
terminal.
The use of one or the other cable or triangle on the front or the rear
brake is indifferent.
BRAKE INSTALLATION
Warning: The forward driving direction and the right positio-
ning side of the brake are shown on the brake shoe. (Fig. 1)
• Check that the brake pads supplied in the packaging correspond
to your rim.
• Remove the parts we used for creating the packaging.
• Make sure that the brake supports of the frame and the fork have
no burrs and signs of oxidation that may prevent smooth sliding.
• Lubricate the brake supports of the frame and the fork.
Insert the left brake pad in the left pad-holder and the right brake
pad in the right pad-holder. Make sure that the end of the spring of
the right and the left brake is fitted in the only whole or in one of the
3 holes at the base of the support of the right and left brake. Make

• Fix the brake, tightening the screw (A) with a dynamometric
wrench at a 8 Nm torque as indicated graphically in the brake (Lock
8 Nm). Make sure that the washer (B) is present. (Pic. 3)
Make sure that the screw is tightened correctly, if it gets loose du-
ring the use, it may cause a failure in the brake and, as a conse-
quence, possible accidents and serious or fatal injuries.
Take the brake cable holding fork from the packaging.
• Tighten the set screws (C), the screw (D) and the nut (E) at the
corners of the triangle. (Pic. 4-5)
• Pass the cable that protrudes from the shifter of the front (brake,
if you are fitting the front brakes and the rear, if you are fitting the
rear brakes) through the hole of the triangle screw half-tightening
the nut in order to stop the cable.
At this point, take the brake connection cable from the packaging.
• Make sure that the tension adjuster (G) found in the brake is
totally screwed. If this is not the case, screw it clockwise to the end
of the stroke. (Pic. 5)
• Slide the brake connection cable through the hole of the tension
adjuster.
• Once it protrudes, pass it through the guides of the triangle hol-
ding the brake cable to slide it afterwards through the hole of the
pawl (I). (Pic. 5)
• Move the brake pads close to the rim manually, making sure the
brake connection cable slides through the hole of the pawl, at this
point, tighten the set screw (L) of the pawl (F) with a 2.5 mm Allen
wrench to a tightening torque of 10 Nm. (Pic. 5)
To place the brake pad correctly with respect to the braking surfa-
ce, follow these simple steps:
• Unscrew the nut M8 (M) on the rear flange of the rear brake with
a socket 13 mm wrench. (Pic. 6)
• Fit a 5 mm Allen wrench in the screw (N) and as indicated by
the arrows in the figure, regulate the position of the support of the
brake pad with respect to the braking surface by pushing the Allen
wrench slightly. (Pic. 7)
• Once the correct position has been found, tighten the nut M8
with a 13 mm socket wrench to a 10 Nm torque. (Pic. 6)
Warning, please observe the tightening torque, if it is incorrect, it
could cause accidents and serious or fatal injuries.
At this point:
• Tension the cable (F) of the front (brake if you are fitting front
brakes and the rear if you are fitting the rear brakes) manually so
as to move the brake pads close to the rim at a distance of 1-3
mm. (Pic. 8)
• Tighten the nut () by holding he screw firmly with a 5 mm Allen
wrench to a tightening torque equivalent to 10Nm.
• Centre the brake pads with respect to the rim.
• Perform any minimum adjustments with the cable tension adju-
ster (G). (Pic. 5)
• Tighten the set screws (C) of the cable holding triangle with the
suitable wrenches.
• Brake with force and checking that the brakes return to the initial
central position; perform this operation many times.
