• Each set contains 4 buffers: 1 anterior (A) stop buffer (without holes) 3 posterior (P) progressive buffers (with
holes)
The moderately rigid posterior buffer and the anterior buffer are routinely supplied pre-assembled.
Selection of the posterior progressive buffer
The buffers are packed according to weight limit (100 kg / 125 kg) as sets of 4.

The buffer hardness should be chosen and used according to the patient's individual requirements.
Warning: If the buffer chosen is too soft a "slight wobble" can be created that can lead to a feeling of insecurity in
the prosthesis user. In this case, please use the next hardest posterior buffer.
Assembly of the buffer elements
The buffer without holes acts as anterior stop buffer (A).
The posterior buffer (P) with holes for progressive damping is inserted with the holes upwards in the IKF adapter.
(fig. 2)
Please make sure that before leaving the rehab centre, patients are familiar with the handling of the IKF adapter
and their prosthesis. If this warning is not heeded, it can lead to patients falling over.
KP5 Knee with lamination adapter
• Completely fill the central thread of the lamination adapter with Plastelin.
• Make a dummy plate and fix this to the adapter with double-sided adhesive tape.
• Laminate the lamination plate (35) according to the individual needs of the patient with sufficient carbon and
glass fibres.
IMPORTANT: Please tie off securely in the groove!
• After laminating, expose the distal end of the adapter and remove the Plastelin.
• Slide the washers (27 & 28) over the 29 mm central screw (30) and insert this into the central opening of the
head of the joint (26).
• Slide the adjusting screws (34) over the thread of the central screw (30) and tighten the lamination plate (35) to
35 Nm.
• Use a torque wrench (8 mm Allen key) and secure the 29 mm central screw (30) with Loctite.
KP5 with 3-arm socket adapter
• Before adjusting (setting) the 3-arm socket adapter to the individual shape of the socket, screw the adapter with
exterior thread into the inner thread of the 3-arm socket adapter. Tighten the M5 locking screw of the 3- arm
socket adapter to 10 Nm.
• Adjust the 3-arm socket adapter to the individual shape of the socket.
