• Observe the alignment instructions and adjustment notes.
• Do not unscrew any screws other than those described here.
• The use of talc, particularly together with lubricants, can cause the joint to jam. Therefore, please do not use
any talc!
• Do not use compressed air for cleaning. We recommend the use of a brush.
When using with the IKF adapter
• If there are any visible changes, wear-and-tear, or functional limitations, replace the IKF adapter or its buffer.
• Please make sure that the patient is competent in the handling of the IKF adapter and his prosthesis before
leaving the premises. Failure to observe this warning may cause the patient to fall.
• Any manipulation whatsoever leads to premature wear-and-tear (fracture) of the adapter.
• Make sure you assemble the IKF adapter in the correct AP direction.
• Make sure you mount the buffer elements correctly.
When using with a loop adapter
• To guarantee the safety of the user, make sure you use sufficient carbon/glass lay-up material when laminating
the loop adapter (39).
• After lamination, make sure that the thread of the loop adapter (39) is free of Plastiline and resin residues,
otherwise the central screw (32) cannot be screwed in completely.
• The fine teeth on the two adjustment discs must face each other.
When using with a 3-arm socket adapter
• The M5 locking screw on the 3-arm socket adapter must be tightened to a torque of 10 Nm and secured with
Loctite. Use a torque wrench (5 mm Allen key).
• For readjustments, do not unscrew the adapter with an external thread (37) by more than one turn.
Observe all the above points, otherwise the guarantee becomes null and void!
MAINTENANCE
The joint must be inspected, and repaired if necessary, at least every 6 months!
Inspect:
• the alignment
• the screw connections
• glued joint and torque of the central screw
• the suitability of the patient (e.g. max. body weight, degree of mobility)
• loss of lubricant
• for damage to the joint and the accessories (e.g. the dual function lever)
• for soiling of the bushes
• the lanyard function for locking joints
• AP + ML play
• the extension stop (20)
• visual inspection of the proximal adapter for damage
• for damage to the two adjustment discs (38) when using the loop adapter (39)
• the threaded connection when using the adapter with an external thread (37)
• when using the IKF adapter: check that it functions properly, especially the mounted buffers
• for soiling with talc
CARE
Clean the joint with a soft cloth moistened with a little mild benzene. Do not use any more aggressive cleaning
agents because these can damage the seals and bushes.
Do not use compressed air for cleaning! Compressed air can blow existing dirt into seals and sleeves where it
causes damage and premature wear-and-tear.
