The Balance Knee OFM1 and Balance Knee KFM1 joints are polycentric knee joints with a stable aluminium frame
construction. The joints are suitable for users in mobility classes 1-2, and are approved for a maximum body weight
of 136 kg.
Due to its unique construction, Balance Knee OFM1 and Balance Knee KFM1 can either be used as a locking joint
with manual release or as a mechanical, freely moving knee joint as the user becomes more mobile. The dual
function lever enables the user to switch easily between these two functions.

INDICATIONS FOR USE

The Balance Knee OFM1/KFM1 is designed for patients with transfemoral and knee disarticulation amputation.
CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR USE

Proximal adaptation can be achieved in a number of ways:
• Balance Knee OFM1 with a pyramid adapter
• Balance Knee OFM1 with an IKF-Adapter
• Balance Knee KFM1 with a loop adapter
• Balance Knee KFM1 with a 3-arm socket adapter (particularly suitable for interim sockets)
For all adaptation options, Balance Knee OFM1/KFM1 is infinitely adjustable by up to 5 mm in the AP/ML
directions and can be rotated without limitation (exception: IKF-adapter).
In addition, the flexion/extension angle and/or the adduction/abduction angle of the Balance Knee OFM1 version
with a loop adapter, can be corrected by up to max. of 10° by using the adjusting discs. All the alignment
adjustments can be carried out during the fitting phase or at any other later point in time.
The Balance Knee OFM1 version with an IKF adapter emulates the anatomical angle of strike of about 5 - 11°
without deactivating the safe knee joint geometry. Using the IKF adapter reduces stress on the joint chain and
gives the user a secure and energy-saving gait. The adapter also makes walking on gradual slopes and uneven
ground considerably easier and safer. A number of different progressive buffers are available that can be varied
individually depending on the walking habits of the prosthesis user. The IKF adapter can be used for all
mobility classes.
