rEsq dd™ can work as both a lanyard arrestor and as a manual winch. By unfolding /
extending the winder in accordance with the instructions in Chapter 7, rEsq dd™ is po-
sitioned for rescuing by manual lifting and descent. When the winder is retracted rEsq
dd™ functions as an automatic lanyard arrestor for descent during evacuation. Only the
winder's position determines which position rEsq dd™ is in.

rEsq dd™ Ought to be used by persons with adequate competence in rescue opera-
tions. Competence ought to/shall be regularly updated in compliance with applicable
health and safety legislation.
An emergency situation can be extremely demanding with major time pressure on the
rescue equipment to be used. Consequently it is of great importance that personnel in
high altitude areas equipped with rEsq dd™ undergo regular refresher training so that
handling procedures in accordance with these instructions can be derived.
