grease

NOTE:Do not overfillthe gear case.Damageto the sealscould result.
4. Wheels: Oncea season,removethe boltfrom eachwheeland
take the wheeloff the axle. Applya multipurposeautomotive
greaseon the shaft beforeputting backthe wheels.
5. Auger Shaft: At least oncea season,removethe shear pinson
auger shaft. Spraylubricantinsideshaft, aroundthe spacers.Also
lubricatethe flangebearingsfoundat eitherend of the shaft.See
Figure14.

Recommendations

Followinstructionsbelowto checktheconditionof the drivebelts
every 50 hoursof operation.
1. Removethe plasticbeltcoveron the front of the engineby remov=
ing two self=tapping screws.
2. Visuallyinspectfor frayed,cracked,or excessively wornout belts.
Replace,if necessary,followinginstructionson pages16 and 17.

Wheel
Followinstructionsbelowto checktheconditionof the frictionwheel
rubberevery50 hoursof operation.
1. Removethe self=tapping screwsfrom theframe coverunderneath
the snow thrower.Referto Figure19.
2. Visuallyinspectthe frictionwheel rubberforexcessivewear,
cracks,or loosefit on thefrictionwheeldrivehub.
3. Also, engagethedrh/econtroland checkif the frictionwheelis
makingcontactwith drive plate.If it does notmakecontact,adiust
the drivecable (referto page 19)and recheckthefrictionwheel
4. Replacefrictionwheelrubberif necessary.Referto instructionson
page 17.
5. Re=attach framecoverto the snow throwerand putthe equipment
back to operatingposition.
WARNING:Always stop engine and disconnect
spark plug wire before performing any maintenance
or adjustments. Alwayswear safety glasses during
operation or while performing any adjustments or
repairs.
Lubrication
1. Drive Mechanism: Once a seasonor after every25 hoursof
operation,removerearframe coverand lubricateany chains,
sprockets,gears,bearings,and shafts with engineoil or lubricant
spray.

2. Unscrewoil fill cap from oil filler tubeand wipe dipstickclean.
3. Screw oil fill cap back intooil fillertube.Tighten securely.
4. Unscrewand removeoil fill cap fromoil fillertube. Note oil level If
oil readingon dipstick is below"ADD"mark,slowlyadd oil to reach
"FULl" level.See Figure15.
5. Screw oil fill cap back intooil fillertube.Tighten securely.
6. Wipeaway anyspilledoil
IMPORTANT: A voidoil spillageon rubberfrictionwheeland aluminum
driveplate.
