Intended purpose
The JuzoPro Epi TT stabilises the elbow joint using
two rigid, padded guidance splints that are joined
together with textile straps and a textile surface in
a way that allows for adaptability. These splints are
placed on the sides of the joint. The degree of the
extension and flexion movement, i.e. how much the
elbow can be bent or extended, can be adjusted.
This is how to put on your JuzoPro Epi TT
correctly:
1. Open all the straps, followed by the length-
wise-oriented velcro fasteners on the front, then
fold open the orthosis. Now point the wide end of
the orthosis, which will enclose your upper arm, in
your direction.
2. Position your arm on the orthosis so that the tip of
your elbow rests in the space between the upper
arm and forearm pads (Fig. 1).
3. Fold the two wings of the orthosis around your
arm. The joint pads attached to the hinges of the
orthosis should now be located at the same height,
and be centered to the left and right of your elbow.
Ensure that the centers of the hinge pads are
aligned with the center of your elbow joint.
4. Now close the padding-related, lengthwiseorient-
ed velcro fasteners located at the front (Fig. 2).
5. Next close the straps by guiding their ends over
your arm, through the plastic buckles and back
again. Sequence: Start with the upper arm strap
just above the elbow, next the forearm strap just
below the elbow, then the higher upper arm strap
and finally the lower forearm strap (Figs. 3 + 4).
The orthosis is correctly seated if it firmly encloses
the arm without exerting a too strong (painful) pres-
sure and, provided your elbow doesn't need to be
immobilized for medical reasons, if your elbow is able
to move smoothly.
The orthosis can be readjusted at any time by repeat-
ing steps 4 and 5 above.
Please note:
Only wear your orthosis when prescribed by your
physician. Medical aids should only be dispensed by
suitably trained staff of a medical products supplier.
The effectiveness of the orthosis can only be real-
ised if it is applied correctly. The orthosis is largely
resistant to oils, ointments, skin moisture and other
environmental influences. Certain combinations may
negatively impact on the durability of the fabric. We
therefore recommend that it gets examined regularly
by the medical products supplier. Should the product
become damaged, please consult your specialist
supplier. Do not repair the orthosis yourself – this
could compromise its quality and medical efficacy.
For hygienic reasons, the orthosis is not suitable for
treating more than one patient.
Washing and care instructions
Please observe the care instructions on the textile
label of your JuzoPro Epi TT. First open the four
straps and the velcro fasteners of the orthosis pads.
Now carefully separate the padding from the splints
and straps (which are attached by means of velcro
fasteners). Ensure the straps and splints do not get
detached from one another as you do so. This is very
important to ensure that the splints are returned into
the correct position in relation to the padding after
you have cleaned the orthosis. Next remove the vel-
cro-fastened pads. The pad at the orthosis hinge, and
the upper arm and forearm pads should be washed
by hand at approx. 30 °C using a laundry detergent
for delicate fabrics. Wash the pads separately the
first time (the colour might come out). We recommend
using the mild Juzo Special Detergent for this. After-
wards, rinse out the pads well and allow them to dry
in a free-hanging position at room temperature; do
not wring them out. To reduce the drying time of the
pads, before hanging them up, place them on a thick
terry towel, roll them up tightly and squeeze them
firmly. Do not leave in the towel and do not place on a
heater or in the sun to dry. This Juzo product must not
be cleaned chemically.Do not fasten the splints to the
padding again until they are fully dry. To do so, place
the splints, with the outer edges of the hinges facing
down, in front of you on the floor. The straps should
all be under tension to ensure the correct separation
of the splints is maintained. Now attach the hinge
pads to the velcro pads. Next place the upper arm
pad (with the external side down) in the center of the
more widely spaced area of the splints so that the tip
of the pad is at the same height as the midpoint of the
hinge and the remainder of the pad almost touches
the hinge pad. Now press the pad into place. Repeat
this procedure for the forearm padding in the more
closely spaced area of the splints.
