Q1. How can I find out if USB is enabled on my PC?
A1. Go to your Windows 98 desktop. Right-click the My Computer
icon. Click Properties. Click the Device Manager tab. Double-click
Universal Serial Bus Controller. If USB is enabled on your PC, you will
see the text Universal/Open Host Controller.
Q2. Do I need to switch off my PC before connecting or
disconnecting the USB Network Interface?
A2. No.
Q3. How can I remove the USB Network Interface installation
files or an incomplete installation?
A3. Go to your Windows 98 desktop. Click Start—Settings—Control
Panel. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. At the Install/Uninstall tab,
select 3Com USB Network Interface (3C19250). Click Add/Remove.
Remove.exe is also available on the Driver Diskette.
Q4. How can I tell if a 3Com USB Network Interface has been
previously installed on my PC?
A4. Go to your Windows 98 desktop. Right-click the icon My
Computer. Click Properties. Click the Device Manager tab. Double-click
Network Adapter. If you see 3Com USB Network Interface (3C19250),
the Network Interface has been previously installed.
Q5. What do I do if the USB ports on my PC are already
connected to other USB devices?
A5. You could use a USB Hub.
Q6. What is a USB Hub?
A6. A USB Hub is a peripheral device that expands the number of USB
ports available on your PC.
Q7. Can I use a USB Hub which takes its power from the host
PC?
A7. No. You must use a USB Hub that has its own power supply
(self-powered).
Q8. Why does the 3Com USB Network Interface not work with
my network sniffer or network protocol analyzer?
A8. Because Promiscuous Mode is not supported, the USB Network
Interface does not work with sniffer or packet analyzer software.
Q9. I have connected my PC to my network and Windows 98 is
asking me to enter a password. What password should I enter?
A9. At this point, you do not need to enter a password, just click OK.
If you click Cancel, you will not be connected to the network!
