Preparations for testing

Clamping the pump

All information (order number, dimensions etc.) for
clamping components and drive couplings required
to clamp the pump can be found on the ToolsCATA-
louge special accessories CD.

Before you clamp the Delphi pump onto the EPS, check
the movement of the pump drive shaft and check the
pump housing for cracks. Pumps on which the drive
shaft does not move freely or is blocked or the housing
is cracked may not be clamped and tested.

Delphi Pump with conical shaft connection

Procedure:

On Delphi pumps with radial mounting (e. g.
9042A 041A) before fitting the clamping flange the
adapter board (1 681 000 076) must be fitted.On
assembly, make sure the adapter plate is fitted to the
Delphi pump with the mark (1) facing upwards. To at-
tach the adapter board, use the two retaining pins (2).

The coupling assembly 1 686 401 026 (2) and the
guard 1 685 510 148 (1) are included in the scope
of delivery of the EPS 815. The clamping bracket
1 688 010 129 (4) is a special accessory and must
be purchased for testing Delphi pumps.
1. Attach the drive coupling (2) to the EPS flywheel.
Warning - risk of being pulled in
Due to turning or moving parts when the
drive is running, body parts or clothing could
be caught and pulled in.

2. Slide the protective hood (1) over the drive coupling
and attach to the EPS clamping console.
3. Fit an appropriate clamping flange (5) onto the Del-
phi pump.
4. Place Delphi pump with clamping flange into the
clamping bracket (4) and attach.
5. Fit coupling half (3) onto the drive shaft of the
Delphi pump. Tightening torque of tensioning nut:
80 +10 Nm.
6. Place the Delphi pump onto the EPS clamping console.

The permissible tightening torques for the drive cou-
pling (2) are described in the drive coupling fitting
instructions 1 689 980 117.
7. Clamp the coupling half (3) on the Delphi pump be-
tween the clamping jaws of the drive coupling (2).
8. Attach the clamping bracket (4) to the clamping con-
sole using the two fastening screws.
