Filter change

Change the filter at the following intervals, depending upon filter type:
• Disposable filter: prior to each sterilization cycle
• PTFE permanent filter: after a maximum of 1 000 sterilizations
• PrimeLine germ retention system: after a maximum of 5 000
sterilizations
VARIO container and BASIS container:
Simultaneously press both push buttons 12 on universal filter retainer
10.
Remove universal filter retainer 10.
Insert a new filter and remount universal filter retainer 10.
Push down cap 11 on universal filter retainer 10 until you hear it click
into place.
Sterile container system PrimeLine:
Turn ribbed cover grid 20 anticlockwise until it is unlocked.
Remove ribbed cover grid 20 of germ retention system 16.
Turn germ retention system 16 anticlockwise at finger tray 18 or
mounting handle 21 until it disengages from adapter frame 17.
Lift germ retention system 16, gripping it at handling pin 19, and
remove it.
For installing the germ retention system 16, retrace the above steps.

4.2 Function checks

Prior to each use, carry out a visual inspection for damage and correct
functioning of all components of the sterile container:
– Metal parts not deformed
– Aluminum lid not warped
– Edges of universal filter retainer 10 sitting in full-surface contact
– Seals intact (no cracks, ...)
– Plastic parts not cracked
– Permanent filter intact
– Lock functions properly (engages)
Use sterile containers only if they are in mint condition. Replace any
damaged components immediately with original spare parts or have
the affected components repaired.

4.3 Safe operation

Risk of contamination of sterile supplies due to
inadequately sealed sterile container!
The sealing of the sterile container, and its
WARNING
effectiveness as a germ barrier will be compromised if
the sterile container is combined with components
from other manufacturers.
Only combine Aesculap sterile container products
with each other.
Loading a sterile container
Instruments
In accordance with DIN EN 868-8 and DIN 58953-9, we recommend the
following maximum load of the container:
• Standard container: 10 kg
• Half container: 5 kg
• 3/4-container: 7 kg
Put instruments into appropriate storage units in a tray,
with hollow components, bowls, dishes, etc. with their openings at a
downward angle.
VARIO container and BASIS container:
Load sterile containers in such a way that their universal filter retainers
10 remain unobstructed. Max. loading height: to approx. 2 cm below
the rim of the container base.
Use inner lid lock 4 to lock inner lid 3 to container bottom 5.
Inner lid lock 4 has to engage perceptibly. If this is not the case: Have
the sterile container repaired, see Technical Service.
Sterile container system PrimeLine:
Load the sterile container in such a way that ribbed cover grid 20 in
plastic cover 14 remains unobstructed. Max. loading height: to approx.
2 cm below the rim of the container base.
Lock plastic cover 14 with plastic cover lock 22 on bottom 5.
Plastic cover lock 22 must clearly engage. If this is not the case: Have
the sterile container repaired, see Technical Service.
Textiles
Pack the textiles together in such a way that they fit upright in the
sterile container.
Make certain that, when the sterile container is fully loaded, it is still
possible to insert a flat hand between the individual items without
difficulty.
Load sterile containers in such a way that their universal filter retainers
10 remain unobstructed.
Use inner lid lock 4 to lock inner lid 3 to container bottom 5.
Inner lid lock 4 has to engage perceptibly. If this is not the case: Have
the sterile container repaired, see Technical Service.

Load the sterile container in such a way that ribbed cover grid 20 in
plastic cover 14 remains unobstructed.
