and endurance in weakened muscles, and it
can also be used to prevent decreased muscle
strength during (chemo) radiation in head and
neck cancer patients. The level of resistance
can be adjusted from approximately 5N to 60N,
(5 N equals about 1/2 kilogram of resistance).
NOTE: The Load Scale is only an indication
of the approximate resistance measured in
Newton (N), and is intended for reference only.
1.5 WARNINGS
DO NOT
• Do not use the ActiveBand before
consulting a clinician if you have a specific
neuro-muscular diseases, for example ALS
or similar.
• Do not continue to exercise if you feel
severe pain at any time while exercising
with
immediately stop using the product and
contact your clinician.
• Do not apply excessive force or overexert
yourself, this may cause injury to the jaw
muscles and the temporomandibular joint*
(TMJ) region.
*The joint where the lower jaw (the mandible)
joins the temporal bone of the skull. It is located
immediately in front of the ear on each side
of the head.
2. Instructions for use
2.1 Preparation
Before each use check that the device is
undamaged. Do not use the device if it is
damaged.
Attaching the Load Scale (Fig. 2a-c)
1. Make sure the surface of the Jaw Mobilizer
is clean and dry before attaching the Load
Scale.
2. Peel off the liner from the Load Scale
(Fig. 2a).
3. Attach the Load Scale to the bottom of the
Jaw Mobilizer as shown in (Fig. 2b and 2c).
NOTE: Load resistance 1 should point towards
the Adjustment Knob and Load resistance 6
towards the Mouthpieces.
Attaching the ActiveBand (Fig. 3a-f)
CAUTION: Do not use lubricating agents on
the TheraBite ActiveBand. The ActiveBand
may change position during training and/or
change its properties causing it to break.
