1. Ensure that the Fine Adjustment Knob
on the TheraBite is screwed in as far as
possible.
2. Loop the ActiveBand around the Jaw
Mobilizer from the tip of the device close
to the Adjustment Knob (Fig. 3a and 3b).
3. To move the ActiveBand on the Load Scale,
loosen the knob until the Mouthpieces are
at maximum opening. Slide the ActiveBand
along the Load Scale in order to align it to
one of the bars that are illustrated beside
every load number (1–6), (Fig. 3c). Number 1
means very low resistance and number 6 is
very high. Fig. 3d illustrates ActiveBand
aligned at position 3. Make sure that the
ActiveBand is in a vertical position.
4. Adjust the Fine Adjustment Knob while
applying pressure to the Lever so that
the lower edge of the Mouthpiece opens
to approximately 15 mm, or any opening
recommended by your clinician (Fig. 3e
and 3f).
NOTE: An opening greater than 25 mm is
not recommended.
CAUTION: Do not overstretch or leave the
ActiveBand in stretched position when not in
use, this may affect the durability and strength
of the ActiveBand.
2.2 Rehabilitation program
(Fig. 4a-c)
It is recommended that your clinician selects
and combines exercises that are appropriate for
you, including regular monitoring and review.
1. Hold the Jaw Mobilizer in your hand.
2. Press the Mouthpieces together with your
fingers to insert, and bite very gently
(Fig. 4a).
3. Hold position, open and then close your
mouth against the resistance of the
ActiveBand (Fig. 4b and 4c).
CAUTION: Do not release the Lever
abruptly as the Mouthpiece is preloaded
with the force applied by the ActiveBand.
Release the Lever slowly to avoid pain or
injury to your teeth or jaw.
4. Hold for one second, and then repeat the
exercise (Fig. 4b and 4c).
The position of the ActiveBand on the Load
Scale, number of repetitions, number of
treatment sessions per day, and length of
treatment time will vary depending on your
