– Take the weight of the monitor into consideration. Are reinforcements
(larger washers or plates) required?
– Is it possible to route the connection cable harness and extension
cable to the monitor?
Once all points have been taken into consideration, you may commence
with installation.
When positioning the monitor ensure that it is not installed within the
effective area of one of the AIRBAGS. Otherwise inflation may cause
injury.
Ensure that the contact surface between monitor holder and assembly
base is as large as possible.
u Trace the outline of the monitor holder corners on the dashboard.
u Unscrew the monitor holder from the monitor.
u Hold the monitor holder within the outline traced beforehand and mark
at lease four different drilling points (see . F 5).
When using sheet metal / self-tapping screws for fastening
Fastening with self-tapping screws is only permitted in sheet
steel with a minimum thickness of 1.5 mm.
Please observe the following for drilling holes in the sheet steel:
– Check beforehand that there is sufficient clearance for the drill bit to
emerge on the other side.
– Use a centre punch and hammer to make a centre punch mark to
prevent the drill from running out.
– Deburr all drill holes and treat with rust proofing agent.
u Drill a Ø 4 mm hole at the points traced before.
u Screw-connect the monitor holder using the 5 x 20 mm self-tapping
screws.
For the parts required for fastening with self-tapping screws
see . F 6 to F 8.
