HOOD SWITCH AND HARNESS INSTALLATION ( IF FACTORY HOOD SWITCH CONNECTOR/HARNESS
IS NOT PRESENT)
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable
(1). Wait two minutes for the system capacitor to dis
charge before further service.
2. Obtain the hood switch connector/harness (2) from the
kit and position it under the hood ajar switch bracket.
NOTE: Selfadjustment of the hood ajar switch
is a onetime feature.
ineffective, removed or requires readjustment, it
must be replaced with a new unit.
3. Position the kit supplied hood ajar switch (1) near the
hole above the mounting bracket.
4. Pull the wire harness connector (2) through the
switch mounting bracket and connect it to the hood
ajar switch (1).
5. From the top of the mounting bracket, press the hood
ajar switch downward (1) into the mounting hole of the
bracket until the integral switch latch tabs lock it into
place.
NOTE: To aid in the hood switch harness ground in
stallation, remove the bolt securing the steering fluid
reservoir. This will allow for the hoses connected to
the reservoir to be moved to gain better access to the
ground bolt.
6. Route the hood switch harness ground to the passen
ger side shock tower.
7. Remove the ground bolt (1) located on the passenger
side shock tower and install the hood switch harness
ground (2) eyelet over the bolt.
8. Install the ground bolt (1). Tighten the bolt securely.
