Tyre removal

KEEP YOUR HANDS AND BODY AWAY
FROM MOUNTING TOOL DURING
D I S A S S E M B L Y / A S S E M B L Y
OPERATIONS TO AVOID SQUASHING
DANGER.
After clamping the wheel, the tyre is demounted following
the instructions given below, with reference to Fig.D.
1) Depress rotation pedal to make wheel turn clockwise
until valve stem has reached "one o'clock" position.
2) Place arm 3 in working position (Fig.C).
WHEN PLACING ARM IN WORKING POSITION,
DO NOT LEAN HANDS ON THE RIM: DANGER OF
SQEEZING BETWEEN HEAD AND RIM.
3) Release the hexagon shaft 2 and set tool 5 radially
and vertically on rim and lock it in place using the
pushbutton on handle 1 (Fig.C);
4) Operate lever 1 (Fig. D) to place tyre bead ont the
head nail 2.
5) While keeping the lever in this position, turn the
chucking table clockwise by means of pedal 10
(Fig.C) until the bead is out of the rim. Operate the
pedal by quickly pressing and releasing it.
WHEN OPERATING ON VERY "HARD" RIMS,
THE TYRE BEAD TENDS TO SLIP DOWN THE
HEAD. BEFORE TURNING THE CHUCKING TABLE
CLOCKWISE, TURN IT ANTICLOCKWISE BY A
FEW CENTIMETERS WHILE KEEPING LEVER 1
IN THE SAME POSITION (FIG. D).
6) Remove the inner tube (if fitted)
7) Place the head as indicated at 3). Place the other tyre
bead on the head nail 2 by means of lever 1 (Fig. E).
8) While keeping the lever 1 in this position, turn the
chucking table clockwise until the bead is out of the
rim.
9) Place the arm in idle position and remove the tyre
from the rim.
10)When demounting stiff tyres, the bead may position
itself on the mounting tool with the lip turned over.
This causes the bead to slip off the lever when
clockwise rotation starts. To prevent this problem,
turn the wheel slightly anti-clockwise until the lip
relaxes, then start demounting in a clockwise direction
(see Fig.F).
