I. INTRODUCTION
I. 1. Description of the Device
OSIRIS 2 is an adjustable, controlled frequency ventilator,
with an adjustable I/E ratio from 1/1 to 1/3 by steps of 0.5.
It ensures controlled volume ventilation with either:
• pure oxygen (VAC/ACMV 100 % O
• or with a mixture of O
(VAC/ACMV Air + O
It also ensures spontanteous ventilation, pressure assisted
(VS-AI/PS) which may be made non-invasively.
The PEEP* function is integrated and adjustable from 0 to
15 mbar (0 to 15 cmH
OSIRIS 2 has audible and visual alarms to signal any
ventilation faults. The setting of a maximum pressure
threshold (Pmax) fixes a pressure limit and therefore
avoids any barotrauma (insufflation stops as soon as the
set threshold is passed, and the audible and visual alarms
are activated).

I. 2. Intended Use
OSIRIS 2 is intended for use by hospital personnel
(physicians, nurses, etc.) and non-hospital emergency
personnel. It is used:
• For transportation between hospitals,
• For emergency transport between hospitals,
• In post-operative recovery rooms,
• In intensive care units,
• For resuscitation.
For post-operatory or intensive care use, OSIRIS 2 must
have currently approved monitoring equipment.
