IV. 5. Maintenance
IV.5.1. By the user
• Before each use, check the patient circuit (expiratory valve, expiratory diaphragm valve, etc.), the oxygen supply
tube, and the general condition of the external electrical cable...
Also check that the "
" indicator is not lit.
• Replacing the battery-pack
1. Remove the cover;
2. Remove the battery pack and its connector,
3. Disconnect the battery pack and replace it with a new (or charged) battery pack,
4. Replace the battery pack and its connector in its housing,
5. Replace the cover, pressing until it clicks shut.
If the unit is not running off the mains supply when the battery pack is changed, OSIRIS 2 restarts with these default
values: TRIG = -1 cmH
O, I/E = ½, RRmax = 40 bpm, Pmin = 5 cmH

cmH
O for software version V1.021 or later.

IV.5.2. Prolonged storage or unit not in use
If your OSIRIS ventilator will remain unused for a period exceeding one month, its battery should be removed and placed
in storage according to the following recommendations:
• Charge the battery fully before storage.
• Recharge the battery at least once every six months.
• Store the battery in a location at moderate temperature. Heat tends to increase the rate of discharge, as shown in
the table below:
Storage temperature
0 °C
20 °C
40 °C
If completely discharged, the battery can be reactivated by applying the following procedure:
• If the battery lost its charge whilst connected to your OSIRIS ventilator, run four or five complete charge/discharge
cycles.
• If the battery lost its charge during storage (disconnected), perform a full charge.
• In all cases, check battery life after reactivation under the following ventilation conditions: ACMV 100%, frequency
= 20 c/min, I/E ratio = 1/2 and tidal volume = 500 ml. You should obtain 6 to 12 hours of battery operation.
When the battery is completely discharged, you can always operate your OSIRIS ventilator using the charging cable
(supplied).
IV.5.3. By technicians
These operations must be made by technicians who have received the appropriate training.
Every year
